I had a chat with a very nice operator who told me my bank had pushed me into buying something I didn’t really want. Then she tried to persuade me to sign up for their service instead. After I answered some questions, she said they’d be sending documents to my home and that a courier would come to pick them up in a few days, which kinda rushes you into signing everything pretty quickly. Plus, if the claim goes through, they take a third of the payout. Honestly, I’d rather keep all the money myself, so I’ll just write straight to my bank instead.

Just reported this number from Thailand, they say they are some group named FCC, dealing with claims on a 'no win no fee' deal, trying to assist folks in getting their PPI money back from banks. But honestly, I’m not sure if these lot are legit or just con artists? Anyone know? - C Gabriel

So, I’ve had a couple of calls from this number and some bloke named Alan with a Yorkshire accent got in touch. He asked if I’d ever claimed PPI with my bank and which bank I use. Then he wanted to know what sort of bank cards I had. He sent me a strange blue envelope and asked me to sign specifically in the yellow boxes, which were highlighted three times! After that, he told me to leave it outside my house so a courier called Hermes could pick it up and deliver it to them in Leeds or maybe London. I haven’t done it yet because I’m not sure if it’s legit or a scam. Alan said they’re real and operate on a ‘No win, no fee’ deal, meaning if I do get money back, they keep 36p from every £1 paid. Can someone please tell me if the FCC Group are trustworthy or just trying to pull a fast one? Thanks, C Gabriel.

It's sort of like those PPI claims but these lot are after you to get money back for your bank account charges. The follow-up calls are proper annoying.

At first I assumed this company was just another lot of annoying cold callers, but actually they seem legit. They deal with cases where banks have wrongly sold account packages and only charge if you win the case. I’ve already sent my paperwork in yesterday, so I’ll let you know how it goes once I hear back from them.

This situation gets right under my skin. I actually work for this company and some of the stuff folks say here is just nonsense. How on earth could we be running a scam? The only thing we have is a simple form where you tell us how the account was sold to you. We don’t hold any bank details, plus we’re officially registered with the Ministry of Justice. Think about the people working here - their jobs, their lives - and how awful it must be to deal with rude messages like these. If you want your number removed or cancelled, just ask and I’ll make sure it’s done every single time.
