It feels as though they’re more interested in their own profit margins than genuinely addressing the issue. Despite my attempts to flag numerous numbers, it's become clear that it’s a futile exercise. The calls persist unabated, and it’s as if no one has the power to put a stop to this madness. Ironically, these troublesome calls are highly lucrative for many, including this very platform. If the problem were resolved, their relevance would significantly diminish, which is why there's little incentive for them to intervene. Just ponder the volume of ad revenue they stand to lose in such an outcome. Here’s hoping for a future that’s more favourable for all of us!

Got a call from some bloke saying he’s the energy advisor responsible for my neighbourhood - this isn’t the first time I’ve had this same spiel, word for word. He asked if I owned the house, so I decided to question him a bit. He said he was from the insulation advisory group based in Reading. But then I spotted the number was 0113, which I know is for Leeds. Asked him why, if he’s in Reading, he’d be ringing from a Leeds number. Oddly enough, he disconnected almost straight away. Definitely a dodgy setup, just a scam.

A bloke called himself Chris and claimed he was my local energy advisor. He started chatting about loft and cavity wall insulation, which caught me off guard. Then I dropped the bomb - I live on the ground floor flat! I’m also ex-directory, so how on earth did he manage to get my number? I always thought these types of calls were against the law. This is round eight calls over the last couple of days, each from a different number but the message is always the same recorded one. They were doing this before Christmas too, trying to get you to download software that allows them to control your PC remotely. Received a dodgy call from an unfamiliar number. I find it useful to throw a couple of questions their way when I don’t recognise the voice on the other end. Just ask them your name or where you're based - they’ll likely flounder since they’ve just picked your number at random, banking on the off chance that you might be an easy target. Stay sharp!

Got a call from a loft insulation firm, they already seemed to have my info which was a bit odd. The guy said he'd arrange for someone to come and inspect, but I told him I wasn’t interested in that. Before I could even finish explaining, he just hung up on me.

I got a call from someone saying they were with an energy firm supposedly operating in my region. I told them I actually live nowhere near Leeds, which was where their number showed up from, and then they just stayed quiet for a good 20 seconds before hanging up. Definitely sounded like a scam.

Something about a home improvement database or whatever. Honestly, is that even legit? They’re just scammers, and it feels like nothing’s being done to stop them. Shouldn't there be hefty fines or something for this kind of nonsense?

Got a call from this number around 9:35 am today. No one actually said anything when I answered, but I could hear people chatting and all sorts of noise that reminded me of an office setting in the background.
