I switched my phone settings so any caller not saved in my contacts goes straight to voicemail on silent. Got a text from someone saying they were from "Halifax". It said I had added a new payee on 09/05 at 16:10:42 from my account ending in 7968. But those numbers they've given, 03456020000 and +441132798302, aren’t linked to our bank at all. Stay alert, something’s fishy here!

I've just had a right palaver with the Halifax banking app, which kept insisting my account was on hold and directed me to call 0113 279 8302. Naturally, I thought I should be on the safe side, so I contacted their fraud team through a trusted number. To my disbelief, they informed me that the number wasn’t affiliated with Halifax at all and reassured me that my account was perfectly fine. Looks like it’s yet another online scam! I’ve deleted the app, just to be safe.

On Saturday 5/6/2021 someone conned me out of £85 from my HALIFAX debit card. The person on the phone claimed to be from HALIFAX and said my account was at risk. They talked me into transferring £95, which was all the money in my account, to a Barclays holding account. It was a total scam. Luckily, I managed to get my £95 back in the end. Just a heads up to be careful!

Got a call claiming to be from Halifax about some fishing scam. Got a text from this number claiming to be Bank of Scotland, but I don’t even bank with them anymore. The messages talk about stuff I never did like changing login details or ordering new cards and PINs. They also mentioned daily charges for using an arranged overdraft - really fishy. Loads of different numbers included too: 0345 602 0000, +44 113 279 8302, 03456038035, 441733462663. Definitely feels like a scam to me.

I received a call from this number, with the person on the other end claiming they were representing Halifax. They informed me that my bank account had been accessed by a 'new device' and suggested it could possibly be fraudulent activity. They urged me to call back this number. I did share my date of birth, but thankfully I halted the conversation when I noticed a warning message pop up indicating it might be a scam. I would really appreciate it if measures could be taken to put an end to this.

I saw this number pop up when I was trying to make a Bank of Scotland payment online and it wouldn’t go through. The message said something about being able to pay 24/7 by calling that number. When I rang it, it just went straight to voicemail asking for a message for someone called George. Obviously, I didn’t leave a message and ended up reporting it to the Bank of Scotland’s customer support.

Just a heads up, scammers have managed to clone pretty much every phone number banks use, even the ones you might not see listed on their website. If you get a call or message claiming to be from your bank, it's best to ring them back using the number on the back of your card. Make sure your line is clear before you call. Don’t ignore any messages from your bank or block their number - better to be careful than sorry. Stay alert, everyone!

its from Halifax Bank. I noticed the number on my detailed phone bill and didn’t recognise it at first. After looking it up here, it matched up with Halifax, which made sense since I had called them for a long time about one of my accounts. Not sure why they’d be ringing you though.

I guess I should ring this number when I'm overseas, otherwise just ring 03456020000. They somehow had the last 4 digits of my bank account so I gave them all my details. Honestly, people doing this kind of thing deserve to be hunted down and face serious consequences. It’s only fair considering the stress they put you through.

Got a text saying I'm close to overdraft, but I’m not. When I looked at my account, over £200 was taken out by a direct debit I never signed up for, but it was refunded the same day. Really concerning if this is some kind of scam, especially as they had the last four digits of my account correct. Even more worrying that Halifax didn’t notify me about any of this.

I received a message from this number claiming there was an issue with a payment I made. They provided a reference number: 9131700. Concerned, I contacted my bank (Bank of Scotland), and they assured me that no such message had been dispatched. To add to the strangeness, I've been receiving peculiar voicemail messages from what appears to be a genuine 3.com number inquiring if I've recently been involved in a car accident. i got a text off this number saying something about my "9131700 payment" not going through. when i called 0113 279 8302 it turned out to be the Bank of Scotland phone banking line for general queries (guessing the Leeds area code is down to their tie-up with Halifax). the dodgy bit was the person i spoke to said they’d never sent me a text and had no clue what that "9131700" payment was about. that seven-digit number doesn’t match a Bank of Scotland cheque number either, which should only be six digits. so be careful out there!
