Got a call again from someone with a very obvious foreign accent. Claimed they were from the Cybercrime division talking about my PC at home. I told them flat out I knew it was a scam, that I was registered with the TPS, and they had no right to ring me. They just hung up. Why aren't the police cracking down on these scammers?

Got a call about 3 in the arvo, voice was quiet, not any local accent. He asked for me by name?! I said maybe, asked who it was. He claimed to be from the Cybercrime team, then asked if I used a computer. Told him I don’t have one and he just ended the call. Total scam, beware!

Really glad I have call blocker, this call never even rang through.

Nobody answered when I picked up - tried ringing them back but it just kept ringing and then cut off. Honestly, these calls should be blocked for good, and the places behind them should be busted and closed down.

I picked up a call from this number and was greeted with nothing but silence. After about twenty seconds, a woman simply said “goodbye” before hanging up. I reckon that could be quite alarming for an elderly person.

01132241999 Spoke very quietly; sounded like a guy from the Indian subcontinent. Claimed he was calling from the “central server of the internet” and wanted crucial details, beginning with my internet provider. I told him to consider if his mum knew he was running scams and doing dodgy stuff, and that he ought to be embarrassed. He hung up straight away. I’m reporting him to the TPS, though I doubt they’ll actually fix anything.

I received a call from this number, and the person on the other end had a strong foreign accent. All they did was hurl expletives at me when I enquired about the reason for their call. Quite baffling, really!

Honestly, I couldn't care less who just rang me. I'm fed up with this never-ending barrage of calls from these awful people. I’ve actually contacted BT to get my phone taken off and to cancel my number... I’m done with it. These phone companies should be doing way more to block these idiots. This website just lets people moan but do they actually push the authorities to do something? Nope, didn’t think so. So BT’s cutting me off in 2 days! Finally!!! Hurrah!!!

I got a call when I was visiting my old dad, total SCAM - SPAM. The way they spoke was so rude, honestly it was horrible. I’m really grateful my dad didn’t answer, would’ve ruined his mood completely. These scumbags should just disappear and do everyone a favour, seriously!

Another one of those online security scams, like the others mentioned here. Gotta say, the idea of pretending to blow a whistle during the call actually made me laugh ??

CYBER CRIME UNIT, that's a joke right? I just said fine, no worries, then they went and cut my internet off, and might as well have done my phone too, coz all they do is call me with scams and some clueless foreigners acting like I’m an idiot. Then I told the bloke to piss off and slammed the phone down, proper muppets. What a shower of idiots!!!

I didn’t pick up, but the phone kept ringing non-stop for like two whole minutes. These scam people must be really desperate now. Nowadays if I don’t know who’s calling, I just leave it to voicemail. Sometimes I wish there was some kind of anti-scammer squad who could find out where they’re based and then we all just turn up and give them a proper good kicking. I'd be first in line, no doubt about it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ANOTHER IDIOT CALLING, "IF THESE MUPPETS HAD ANY SENSE THEY'D BE REALLY DANGEROUS" . BASIC REPLY TO THESE SCAMMING NITWITS - GET A WHISTLE AND BLAST THEIR EARDRUMS TO PIECES, TRUE IT'S ILLEGAL TO DO THAT! BUT WHAT THEY'RE DOING IS ALSO ILLEGAL AND MUCH WORSE, SINCE THEY CAN BRING SO MUCH TROUBLE TO OLDER FOLKS WHO MIGHT BE MORE NAIVE THAN MOST!!!

I received a call from a gentleman with an Indian accent purporting to be from a cyber security firm based in London. He insisted that my computer had been compromised in some way. Strangely, when I requested that he send me an email for verification purposes, he outright refused. It all felt rather suspect, to say the least!

He rang me earlier tonight. I could barely understand what he was saying and he messed up our last name completely. Claimed to be from the government cyber security team. I told him straight it was a scam, but he kept denying it and then said I was just wasting his time. Told him if I stop him bothering anyone else then it’s worth it. I’ve reported it to Action Fraud. I’d recommend you report it too.

Just got a call from this number. A foreign bloke on the line said he was gonna cut me off from the internet. I asked him who he worked for and he said the UK government. When I pressed which part, he said something like 'vertification' - doesn’t exist. Asked again and he got all aggressive, saying he’d disconnect me from the web. I ended the call but he still called back.

Got a call from this number saying he was from Cyber Security. I quickly asked if he was connected to the police. After a long pause, he nervously said yes. I instantly figured it was a scammer so I asked for his phone number. Another long pause and he blurted out 1244. I was ready to keep him chatting but he just hung up. WATCH OUT, THIS IS A SCAM. Likely trying to get into your computer and put in some kind of malware to steal info. Might ring again super early, like 2am, just before I go to bed.

Spent like 20 minutes on the phone with some pushy bloke from overseas who kept insisting I get on my computer so he could show me how to get rid of some dodgy IP linked to mine, saying if I didn’t he’d cut me off from the internet - honestly, felt proper threatening! Why do these calls not get blocked? Could really scare someone.

Got a call from “The World Wide Web Server” about some cyber security issue - funny how they act like there’s only one server out there, lol. They said my licence was faulty. I asked for my licence key, and the guy just rattled off some random numbers. When I pointed out it wasn’t the right length for a Microsoft key, he told me to shove off and hung up straightaway.

I've had a rather similar experience to those mentioned before regarding a potential breach of my computer. An unfamiliar woman with somewhat broken English contacted me, instructing me to note down a certain number. When I failed to do so, she requested that I repeat it back to her. I had an inkling it was a scam, so I didn't bother jotting anything down. What she was on about wasn’t a phone number at all; it pertained to something concerning my computer or my internet connection. When I told her I hadn’t noted it down because I didn’t actually own a computer, she promptly ended the call.

FRAUD ALERT! I received a bizarre call claiming that my computer had been compromised and that my software licence had been cancelled! Can you believe it? They provided a number to ring for confirmation. To sort things out, I hung up and called a mate first. After that, I dialled the number I had received - and guess what? The recorded voice on the other end said the number was 'not valid'. Clearly, I had made sure to disconnect my line properly before making that call. What a dodgy scam!
