9 yearsThis week, I got a call about my Dyson supposedly needing a service, with a special deal of £30 for a full strip-down, new fan belt and deodoriser balls in the filter. Thing is, my Dyson’s fine because I take good care of it; I even changed the hose myself recently after it got damaged when my son used it on the car, and I clean the filters regularly. My daughter had borrowed it for use at her place, and Provac rang me to say the Dyson needed servicing. I told them it was with her, so they went there instead. They told her the cost would be £30, but when the guy came around, he claimed the hose was split and the filter had to be changed, billing her £100. I was horrified since I knew this was all nonsense, but as I wasn’t there, she just paid. What are my options? My name’s Melanie Hall, phone 01274 596501. I’d really appreciate any advice. The bit that shocked me was they didn’t even leave the parts they supposedly swapped out when they left.ProvacMelanie Hall9 yearsI’m absolutely fed up with all these scam calls every day. Honestly, what’s the use of signing up with the Telephone Preference Service when it clearly does nothing?9 yearsThe number 0113 220 4743 belongs to Bow Legal.Bow Legal10 yearstotal scammers, stay well away from them!10 yearsMy phone kept ringing from the same number, but every time I picked up, they just ended the call straight away.10 yearsThese calls come from Provac Care in Leeds, Yorkshire - an utterly shady outfit. I’m pretty sure they’re behind that Dyson scam where they ring up people on the TPS list and act all sorry about it. Don’t fall for it - if you’re on the TPS, make sure you report their annoying calls. Maybe if enough of us complain, these con artists will get shut down quicker. Here’s a link to their terrible website [#]f#[provaccare{s###)/enquirenow - it’s laughable how a company claiming to clean carpets and upholstery can’t even spell “upholstery and mattress” properly.
