Got a dodgy call on my landline, some bloke pretending he was from Virgin Media but spoke with a thick Indian accent - really fishy. Sure, he said Virgin, but definitely not the Virgin company owned by the media folks. Kinda odd getting a call from 'Virgin' with a foreign accent, especially on a rainy Sunday arvo, and they said it was from somewhere in the UK. They already knew my name and phone number, probably from some data leak somewhere. Ended the call sharpish, lucky for me I work in cyber security and deal with scams and threats all the time!

This is the second time I’ve been called today. Earlier, a man rang, and now a woman named Zyra. I told her I was pretty sure she was a scammer. She spoke softly and didn’t seem bothered, kept saying she was from Virgin Media. Asked the same questions: if my landline was working alright and if I had an emergency alarm device installed. It all seemed innocent, but she said if I was unsure, I could call the number back. There was a kid crying in the background, so it really sounded like a call from a house. I reckon she was definitely trying to scam me.
