for a while now, there’s been this kind of cold call going around about a supposed car insurance claim, with callers claiming you or someone close to you was in a crash. these days, with tons of folks recognising these calls on mobiles and home phones, the scammers are only getting craftier with their tactics.

I've been getting these calls occasionally, maybe once or twice a month. But today, I got two calls back to back - one claiming to be from a taxi company, the other said they were from the RTA claims team. Neither of those groups would normally call out of the blue, and I told them that straight away, then they just hung up quick. I tried to sign up for the TPS through a link I found online, but it warned me the site wasn't secure and there was no padlock icon by the web address, so I didn’t go any further. Does anyone know a safer way to register?

When they called me last, I said I’d agree to sign the documents only if they included my note saying “since the accident, I haven’t experienced any pain or injuries." Seems like they’ve backed off for now. I’m quite religious and honestly scared of God, so I don’t want to lie or make things up that aren’t real.
