I kept letting this number ring a few times before finally looking it up online. I’m with BT and that phone line is just for our broadband, nothing else. So how on earth did they get hold of my number? Is BT selling our details and then charging us heaps to block the annoying calls? Feels a bit shady if you ask me. Anyway, I’m just gonna carry on ignoring them.

As someone who’s 76 and lives alone, I can’t recommend call guardian enough - it’s exactly what a few folks here said before. It cost me about £70 to cover 4 phones, and honestly, it’s been fantastic. I used to get loads of annoying calls, but now they’re completely blocked - no messages left, no rude comments, nothing! It’s made such a difference to my peace of mind. Seriously, if you’re fed up with nuisance calls, give it a go - it’s brilliant!

They’ve rung me twice today and a few times the last days, never picking up, just silence before the call ends. Mostly calling between noon and two.

This bloke had a classic Indian accent claiming he was from BT, but I was pretty iffy about it, especially with call centre sounds in the background. The call got diverted to my mobile and I couldn’t see his number. I told him I didn't have proof it was really BT and asked if he could ring me back with a proper number. A few hours later another call came through but it was totally quiet - probably scamming other people who picked up before me, while I just had to wait my turn! I hung up and honestly think you lot should do the same.

Total scam. Pretending to be from BT. When I questioned them, they just hung up. They've rung a few times already, asking for bank details. Also saying your PC needs some "upgrades" - for a fee, naturally.

Got a call from a woman saying she was from BT asking for personal details. I had nothing better to do so I decided to mess with her and kept her chatting for ages. While she was busy with me, no one else got bothered. Spent over 10 minutes on the phone just talking nonsense for fun. She reckoned she’d got me, but nah. A few days earlier, I had another call that just ended with a quick goodbye - probably just testing the waters. BE CAREFUL FOLKS, JUST IGNORE AND HANG UP!

This number rang me AGAIN this morning but no chance of getting through now since I’ve got a BT call blocker phone!! Paid around £60 for two handsets and the caller ID is just under £5 a month - totally worth it!! It’s brilliant cause it doesn’t even let my phone ring when a dodgy call comes in! Not a single blocked or withheld number slips through, no scammers either!! I always check the blocked calls list at night and it’s so satisfying just wiping them all away!!

I usually just ignore them and have blocked about 15 calls like this in the past few months. Every time I block one, another one pops up the following week. This number just rang me up, and of course, I decided to keep the convo going for a bit. What makes this scam feel a bit believable is when you put in ‘my 1p address location’ on Google, it actually shows an address in California. Though, I’m not sure why the scammer keeps saying ‘1p’ instead of just ‘ip’, as that seems to work the same. On Bing, the search brings up the real location. My guess is the address they’re giving is actually the Google server's spot. I checked, and the IP they say is mine really points to Google. If that's the best Google can offer, maybe they shouldn’t act like they’ve got it nailed.

Got a few calls this morning, like three times within a few hours. Every time I pick up, it's just silence and then they hang up. Honestly, it's pretty irritating. What's worse is that BT just keeps peddling their new phone for some ridiculous £80 or so instead of sorting this out.

These scammers are definitely still going about their business. Got a call earlier from someone claiming to be "BT" who told me my internet IP was hacked and I'd be without service for half a year because apparently my connection was linked to California. When I asked for the specific IP they said it was 66.xx.xx.xx, but I checked my router and that's nothing like my real external IP. After that, they just ended the call.

I've noticed that this number keeps ringing me, but whenever I answer, there's a frustrating silence for about half a minute before I either hear a brief 'hello' followed by a click or a quick 'goodbye' before they disconnect. SCAM - Heads up everyone! DON'T GIVE THEM ANY INFO. Got a call today from someone with an Indian accent pretending to be a BT Engineer. Said they needed someone to turn on a computer and check the IP address. Luckily, only my wife answered, and since we only have laptops which were all out, nothing got harmed. Just like the others said, caller claimed to be from BT and insisted our computer was being used by someone in California. Said if it wasn’t fixed today, we’d be off BT’s system for six months. Kept asking for my IP code but I started firing questions back, then he said someone would come round before 5pm with the police because apparently having two connections is illegal. I told him I’d be ready for that! Really pushy bloke with no clue that I was being sarcastic or suspicious. Proper scary for older or vulnerable people to handle calls like that.

My father-in-law got a scam call on his 88th birthday, with someone pretending to be from BT saying his internet was about to be cut off for six months. He handed the phone to me, and I asked for some ID. They told me to call BT and gave me a code, DE624, to confirm him over the BT switchboard. I've been reporting scam calls and emails to Action Fraud, TalkTalk, and the banks or companies scammers pretend to be for more than 4 years. Usually, all I get is a quick "thanks for reporting" message, and then nothing changes - my reports just seem to disappear into some data pool. Even after all this time, I still get bombarded by the exact same dodgy emails and phone calls.
