Got a call from a bloke who sounded like he had some sort of American accent, saying he was from PC Support and covered the major internet companies like BT, Sky and TalkTalk. Since my number's unlisted, I asked him how he got hold of it. He just said they’re the support team for my internet provider and questioned why I was asking about how he found my number. I then tried to ask what he wanted but he just ended the call straight away, which honestly tells you all you need to know!

So yesterday, I got a call from this number and a woman with a foreign accent said my computer was causing issues with their main line and probably had a virus. I told her my internet was working fine so that couldn't be true, then she asked me what browser I was using. I was just about to head out for work, so I couldn’t chat for long, but the whole thing felt suspicious since I had just switched on my PC right before the call. Later, I tried ringing the number back from my mobile and all I got was some confused foreign chatter, followed by a message saying the phone was off - really? That fast? I don't think it was BT calling, because when I said I was busy, she just said thanks and hung up straight away - wouldn’t expect a real agent to be that curt. I’m planning to contact BT to complain since I signed up for ex-directory and caller ID and neither seems to be working properly. Sorry for the block of text, it’s 3 in the morning and I’m a bit tired! Haha.

This number rang me about 4:40pm today. A guy with an Indian accent said he was some sort of chief server for my internet provider. He claimed the signal was weak and that it was messing up my computer. I told him everything was fine on my end, then he just cut the call off! Pretty odd if you ask me... This number just rang me - a bloke with an Indian accent on the line, and honestly, he was pretty rude. I asked him straight up which company he was calling from, and he rattled off some random business name. I handed the phone to my husband, who doesn’t tolerate any nonsense. Today, I got a call from this number - some bloke claiming to be from my internet provider's tech support. He said my computer had viruses and wanted me to switch it on. When I asked for his details and which company he was with, he used the name of my real broadband supplier. Got a phone call not long ago - turns out it's coming from Nigeria, not India or Puerto Rico as some might guess. You can hear what sounds like a call centre buzzing in the background. My advice? Don't just hang up, take up more of their time than they do of yours. Getting angry won’t help, so stay calm and act curious. After about 10 to 15 seconds, I told them straight up they’re scammers.

This is really annoying since I work from home and rely on my landline for my job. Every time the phone rings, I pick up politely, not recognising the number, and then the call just drops. When I checked with 1471, it showed me the same number as mentioned above. It's frustrating that this seems to be a repeated issue with these scam callers, and even though we're signed up with the telephone preference service, it doesn’t seem to do anything to stop these pest calls.

Got a call today at 11:18 [BST] from an Asian guy, same old story about a virus infection. He never explained exactly where, just kept saying "main server." Wouldn't respond to any of my questions, just kept pushing to get into my computer. I kept him talking for quite a bit but he finally gave up and hung up. Heard about an elderly pair who got caught out by this con - ended up paying for it and then had their computer locked, which ended up costing them even more!

So, yesterday around 7 in the evening, I got a call from an Asian bloke who claimed there was an issue with my computer. He insisted I switch it on so he could sort it out, but I knew straight away it was some kind of scam. Obviously, I wasn’t interested and he gave up and ended the call pretty quick.

So this lady calls me claiming to be from Windows support. She says whenever I switch on my computer, they can monitor everything I'm doing. I asked what brand my computer was, like is it Toshiba or Acer or something? She just kept saying “you have Windows” and that’s all I needed to know. Then she told me my PC was full of viruses and that they could fix it if I switched it on (but it was already on). I told her I’ve got antivirus software, but she said it must not be working properly. I said I’d get in touch with them to see why it’s not doing its job. Does anyone else get calls like this? And do people honestly believe this nonsense?

Got a call from a guy with an Asian accent claiming my computer was full of viruses. He started telling me exactly how to fix it and said he was calling from a company working for Talktalk. I ended the call straight away. Later, I phoned Talktalk to check and they confirmed they know about these scams. Turns out it's all fake. If I'd done what he said, they'd have been able to get into my PC and steal all my info.

Got a call on 8th August 2014 from this number. The bloke spoke with an Asian accent and claimed to be a computer security officer from Birmingham. He told me my laptop was sending signals to his control centre. When I asked how he had my phone number, he said it was displayed on the computer. Please, if anyone can put a stop to this scam number, do so before it causes more dodgy situations.

I got a call from some bloke who sounded Indian, asked if my internet was working fine. When I said yes, he oddly asked if I was enjoying cosy nights in with my boyfriend. I told him I didn’t have one - which isn’t true, but felt better to say that cause it got a bit creepy. Then he said it was a shame and asked if I was from India. After that, I just hung up. Honestly, it left me feeling quite uneasy! My partner works in IT, so I’ll have him check my computer, but it’s been wiped clean and had the RAM changed recently, so I'd be surprised if there’s anything dodgy. Still, I’m really unsettled by how much he seemed to know about me.

Got a call from an Indian number but the lady’s voice sounded like she was from South Africa or somewhere around there. She was going on about broadband, but my missus just told her “not interested” and slammed the phone down. After that, they kept ringing back four times, each call more rude and annoying than the last. Honestly, these idiots are pests - wouldn’t mind if their crappy call centre just burnt to the ground with all of them inside.

Got a call earlier wondering about my internet and computer’s performance. The accent sounded more Dutch than Indian, which was a bit unusual. He asked if i could turn my computer on, so i replied “which one?” then asked if he wanted remote access. So, right after I ran a virus scan on my PC, I got a call on my home phone from someone claiming to be from Microsoft. He wanted me to install some software called TeamViewerQS.exe from Teamviewer.com, which I didn't agree to. I did ask what company he was with and where he got my number from. Then he put me through to another well-spoken guy with an Indian accent who shockingly told me he intended to "f### my ass" and said he'd keep calling me all day. I just hung up, got in touch with the police and my phone company, and had the number blocked. I even got a police report with a CAD reference. They told me loads of people had reported similar calls from the same number. I couldn't help but wonder why the police or phone services in India don’t just stop this number or take it down?

Then the guy told my husband there was a £199 charge he needed to pay. When my husband said no, he started acting rude and suddenly cut the call. After that, I ended up having to ring the bank and reset all our passwords just to be safe.

Got a call just now, sounded like some bloke from a call centre abroad, definitely had that Indian accent. Right from the start I reckoned it was one of those virus scams, so I played along, letting him run through his whole script (if anyone’s losing out here, it’s them not me). I heard him go through all the steps, even the bit about installing stuff, then I flipped the switch from clueless to full-on witty scouser with plenty of salty language. Let’s just say I had a proper laugh with the guy on the line, haha! Now I’m kicking myself for not having recorded it, maybe they’ll ring back later and I’ll have the recorder ready ^.^

Today this number rang me up and said pretty much the usual stuff, like my computer’s full of viruses and rubbish.

I got in touch with my internet provider’s support team and flagged the number as annoying/spam. They then gave me a contact number and a PIN code, plus they explained how to block the caller. I’d recommend that anyone else do this too.

By the way, who do you have for your broadband?

I kinda think Mesh Computers might have given my number to these guys, but I’ve no real proof to back it up.

Got a call from this number tonight and when I asked who they were and where they’re from, the bloke just shouted, “Mother f--ker, listen up!” I asked him to repeat that because I couldn’t believe what I heard, and he just said it again then cut me off. Beware folks, this one’s dodgy!

This evening I got a ring from this number. The person on the other end said they needed to get into my computer to show me some viruses that my antivirus hadn't picked up. They said their system had noticed my internet was running slow because of a virus and that they could sort it out. Even after I asked a few times, they wouldn’t say what company they were from. Eventually, I just told them they were messing about and hung up.

I got a call from someone with an Indian accent, talking about my internet. When I asked which company I was with, he said 'Sky', but that’s not right. I just ended the call after that.

This number keeps ringing me and asking for some code to be entered on my computer. It’s really annoying! My elderly neighbours also got calls from this number and got really worried because they don't even own a computer. Honestly, this is just dodgy and should be blocked right away. Can someone sort this out and block these calls?

Been wondering how these dodgy callers keep getting my number, especially since I’m with TalkTalk for both my phone and internet. Does anyone else have the same problem? Feels like our info is being exploited somehow. Could definitely be a clear case of data protection being ignored!

Today, I received a call from some fools claiming my windows were about to get smashed. Then, he started rambling about some issue with my broadband. I wasn’t really catching what he was saying, so I asked him to say it again, and he just ended the call abruptly.

Got a call from these blokes yesterday. He spoke with an Asian accent and claimed my PC was showing virus alerts on his system or something! I kept asking where he got my landline number from, which seemed to annoy him loads - "That's not relevant, mate!" he said. Well, I reckon it is! Anyway, I mentioned I’m in IT myself and he stuttered something like "Uh... well..." before just dropping the call. Honestly, they could do with sorting out their approach. Since I’ve got their number now, I’m planning to trace their ISP and send them a bit of a message back!

Got a call earlier from an Asian guy who said his name was Joy. Kept asking how I was and then told me my computer had viruses. I told him he was talking rubbish since he can’t know without actually being on my PC. Then he just swore at me and threatened me! I just ended the call. Total idiots and obviously a scam.

Today, I got a call from this number about my internet. I decided to quiz him about his company, which didn’t seem to go down well with him. Then out of nowhere, he asked if I wanted to die. I admitted I did, curious what he meant. He replied something about him causing it and screwing a bolt into my head. The bloke sounded Asian and said his name was Charlie. I was about to question where the name came from but he just hung up on me.

I got a call from a bloke saying he was calling from BT and my computer supposedly had a virus. He asked me to visit www.teamviewer.com so they could take a look at my computer remotely. I didn’t trust it at all, so I just unplugged my computer, router, and even the landline, not risking anything!

A weird overseas number popped up on my phone, so I wasn’t expecting anything good. When I picked up, the bloke said he was from “Broadband technical support” and asked how I was. I played along all cheesey, replying “I’m great, how about yourself?” He then said, “Good, and you?” I kept going, “Really good, thanks, and you?” “I’m very well, thank you, sir.”

We kept this silly loop going for more than a minute while my missus was cracking up nearby. Eventually he just hung up. Guess he needed a bit of fun instead of scamming old folks all day.

Got a call from these muppets claiming to be from my internet and phone supplier. I couldn’t help but giggle at the bloke on the other end. Then he goes on about some major problem with my broadband. Still chuckling, I told him I work for an anti-scam unit and could see him clearly through his laptop webcam. I reckon that flustered him, especially when I pointed out his headset looked ancient - even my grandma wouldn’t touch it! I felt sorry for him, even though I couldn’t actually see him, but he seemed convinced I was watching. Lesson learnt: they’re using laptops for these calls. Absolute plonkers. If you’re not savvy with this sort of thing, be very careful with this number, it’s scam city.

Around 3pm today, I got a call from this number. A guy with an Asian accent told me my internet was infected with a virus, and that’s why my connection was slow! When I asked which company he was from, he just said stuff like Sky, BT, Virgin - loads of different names. I then asked if he could confirm who’s name the account was under, and he said “I think it’s a woman’s name.” I told him straight up that any legit rep would have the exact info and wouldn’t just guess. Then he kind of stuttered, suddenly went quiet, and just hung up! Watch out folks, this one seems dodgy.

Today I got a call from this number claiming to be from my internet provider. He told me there was an issue with my broadband and my computer, which seemed a bit dodgy right away. I asked for his name and which company he worked for, but he just said he'd ring me later. So, I called my actual broadband company and they told me they’re the only ones who would ever call me, and this definitely looked like a scam.

This number gave me a similar runaround. They claimed to have put 'Cube Support', 'CCleaner', and 'Comodo Anti-virus' onto my PC, saying icons had popped up on my desktop. Now I’m stuck wondering how to remove these. Is my computer already compromised, you reckon? I’m a pensioner and not very tech-savvy, so any advice appreciated! I only grew wary when I told them I pay by cheque, but they still pushed me to go to my bank and put cash into their account.

Today, my partner got a ring from +00919799999799. Luckily, she’s not one to fall for tricks easily. The caller kept asking for whoever owns "the computer." When she returned the question, they just went back to the same query. After they pushed for her name and address, she asked for their details instead - then they suddenly cut off the call.

Got a call from a man with an Indian accent who said he was from BT Broadband. I cut him off straight away because the number showing on my caller ID looked totally dodgy. Pretty obvious fishing scam if you ask me.

This number rang me at half past eleven, but when I answered there was silence. Usually when I get calls like this, I ask who they’re from, their name, and a number I can ring back on. If they turn around and ask me for my name, I just say something like ‘Surely you’d know it since you’re the one calling me, so you tell me?’ That tends to discourage any sketchy or unfamiliar callers pretty quickly.

This number just called me earlier. We've been struggling with our SKY internet lately, so I assumed it was someone from Sky trying to sort it out. The person asked if the broadband was under my name, and I said it belonged to my husband, who wasn’t around at the moment. I was about to grab my son since he’s pretty good with tech, but the caller cut me off and ended the call before I could finish. I looked up the number using 1471 and found these reviews, so cheers for the heads up!
