I got a voicemail from this number at 9:13 this morning while I was still asleep, so I’m not sure how many times they actually rang because it didn’t show in my call history. A bloke with American accent said it was a ‘special offer just for me’, and right away I suspected it was a scam. I heard the whole message and they wanted me to ring back. DON’T DO IT! It’s a foreign number and will hike up your phone charges. I deleted the message and checked this site to find out more - cheers to everyone sharing their experiences! ??

This number and loads of others keep ringing me, so I blocked them all. The first time I rang back, it sounded like an overseas line and I got really suspicious. They connected me for just a sec then cut me off. I phoned EE to see if they could block it and they said I got charged 42p but they refunded it. No idea how much you’d get billed if you stayed on the line longer.

Since it’s an international number, I figured it wasn’t anything urgent because my mates and family abroad usually get in touch via WhatsApp. The +88 country code is for Taiwan, but I don’t know anyone from there. I’ve been told about a fresh scam going around where they ring you up hoping you’ll call them back, and that’s when they hit you with massive charges. They do their best to keep you talking for ages so they can charge you tonnes.
