They call me every single day, and when I block one number, another similar one pops up. It never rings long enough for me to pick up. The timing of the calls is just insane. This has been going on for more than a month now. I keep blocking every number but they just keep coming from different ones.

Loads of people from Greece have been mentioning this same number just the last few mins, so probably some joker sold a bunch of phone numbers recently, and now they’re trying to pull this scam on phones in Greece.

Called my daughters mobile, and it says her phone dialled the number back, even tho she swears she never did. Now we’re stuck with over £3 charged for each ring. We’ve blocked the number now.

This is a scam. They want you to call back and end up with a massive bill. From what I found on Wikipedia, the country code belongs to "International Networks," which is how the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) labels country codes +882 and +883. It basically covers phone services that aren’t linked to any particular country.

Had a look - this number is linked to international satellite phones, not tied to any single country. The cost for calling back can go as high as £4.50 a minute, and this trick of ringing then hanging up seems designed to get folks who don't know the number to ring back. I bet there’s some sort of pre-recorded message when you call, just to make the call last longer and charge more. Totally dodgy and shady - watch out!

Got a silent missed call from this number, looks like this week's scam for sure. Saw a comment from someone back on 25/04/2018 saying they missed the call then rang back by mistake. The recording said it’s not a real phone number and warned about a £3 charge for calling. Unless you have mates in the UAE with an 882 prefix, best to just block it right away.
