I had a ring from this number earlier today. The caller was a woman speaking with a South Asian accent, claiming that there was an issue with my router. She instructed me to press the Windows key alongside the 'R' key and to enter a code that she would provide. I decided to terminate the call instead.

My husband works in IT and when the caller asked for his IP address, he figured he’d ask them for their name first. They couldn’t even say who they were! Totally daft if you ask me.

Had a chat with my husband, he's an IT tech. When they asked for his IP address, he flipped it and asked for their name instead. They couldn't even answer that simple question. Absolutely daft!

Claiming to be from BT, but it's clearly a scam. Utterly dodgy!

Received a few calls from this number. The person spoke with an Indian accent and said they were from BT, claiming our internet was disconnected because it was under attack. They then tried to get our IP address, but I just ended the call there.

The person had a really strong accent and was quite insistent. I told him I’d ring back once I was back at my desk. He said his name was Eric Pitts and gave me the number 020 3 289 2265 to call. I’ve looked into it with BT, and there’s no problem with the internet.

Had a call from someone with a strong accent, real pushy bloke. I told him I’d ring back once I was at me desk, but he insisted on giving me his details right away. Said his name was Eric Pitts and gave me the number 020 3 289 2265 to call. I double-checked with BT, and there’s no problem with the line or internet.

For the second day in a row, I got a call from the same woman who sounded like she was Indian. She said there was an issue with my IP address and that I needed to switch on some computer setting to fix it or something like that. She said she was from BT, but when I kept asking what BT actually meant, she ended up passing me to some “senior technician” guy. Funny thing is, he didn't even know what BT stood for and just hung up on me. I’m guessing they’ll ring again tomorrow - honestly, it's becoming a bit of a laugh now.

Two days in a row now, I've had this woman with an Indian accent ring me up. She said there’s some issue with my IP address, something about switching on my computer and registering to an address they’d give me or whatever. She said she was from BT, but when I asked her what BT actually meant about six times, she just passed me on to a ‘senior technician’. Guess what? He didn’t know either and ended up hanging up on me. Maybe they’ll call back tomorrow - at this point, it’s getting a bit of a laugh.

I called and nobody spoke, just silence on the line, so I left it open to wait and see if they'd say something. After about five minutes, I checked again and they'd already disconnected.

I called and there was complete silence on the other end, so I just left it ringing to see if anyone would pick up. When I tried again about five minutes later, the call went straight to voicemail.

I received two calls today purporting to be from BT, requesting instant access to my computer. I mentioned that I had experience working with BT myself, to which they claimed to be calling from the Newgate Street head office. When I expressed my suspicions about it being a scam, they rudely called me a silly woman and hung up abruptly. Very unprofessional!

Loads of women with strong Indian accents pretending they’re from BT saying there’s an issue with my IP address. Total scam, clearly. I asked her what the problem was but couldn’t make out a word she was saying. So I told her to ring back when she could speak proper English, like anyone would believe that! She just hung up on me lol.

Loads of calls from a woman with a really heavy Indian accent saying she's from BT and there's an issue with my IP address. Totally dodgy, obviously a scam. I asked her what the issue was, but she couldn't explain properly. I told her to ring back when she can speak actual English that I can understand, then maybe we can talk (not really!). She just hung up on me, haha.

Got a call from someone saying they were with BT, saying there was an issue with my IP. He wanted me to switch on my computer, but I told him I didn’t own one. Then he asked if I had a TV, I said no, but when he asked about a fan and I said I had three, he went off and told me to find a rope and hang myself. The guy had a really strong Indian/Pakistani accent. Honestly, one of the weirdest calls I’ve ever had.

Absolutely a con job! They pretended to be from BT, but my internet provider informed me that BT would never reach out to me directly. They were asking for instant access to my computer, which raised all the red flags!

I got a call from a woman with a thick Indian or Pakistani accent, talking about some kind of issue with “ip reception” or something like that. Honestly, I have no clue what “ip” reception even means. Figured I’d be nice for once and told her to go sort her life out.

Like other folks have said, this bloke was super pushy and had a thick Indian accent. There was loads of noise in the background, which made me think (wishfully) that it probably wasn’t a legit BT call. He kept telling me it was urgent and something about the IP address, but when I suggested it might be a scam he got all defensive and even said I should check with BT myself. After that, I just hung up.

I came across a number starting with 00800 rather than the usual 0800, so I decided to give it a miss. After reading various other users' experiences, we've become rather suspicious. It's worth mentioning that I'm not a BT customer, which only adds to my doubts.

The landline just buzzed but i never pick up anymore, I just let the answer machine do its thing. Anyone who m'ss me knows to ring my mobile if its important. If its a supplier they usually leave a message anyway. I always dial 1471 first to see if the number rings a bell, don’t bother wasting time cos it's generally some annoying sales pitch or a scam call.

my old landline just rang so i let the answerphone pick up, i dont bother answering anymore. anyone important knows to ring me on my mobile. suppliers usually leave a message anyway. i always check the number with 1471 before calling back to see if its someone i know. most of the time its just telemarketers or scams, so no point wasting my time.

Earlier today, precisely at 11:38, a rather dubious call came through from 00800200100, claiming there were issues with my IP address. Naturally, I inquired about the specifics of the IP they were referencing. They provided a number, yet it bore no relation to mine, prompting me to think this might be a scam operation. I urged them to cease fabricating nonexistent concerns regarding my device and bluntly questioned if they were indeed con artists. At that point, they hung up rather abruptly.

someone rang claiming to be from bt saying there was an issue with my internet and they could fix it. the phone number looked convincing, starting with 00800, so i nearly believed them. but it felt strange since bt never acts this quickly on unreported issues. i double-checked by calling bt myself and they said no one had called me. trying to call back that number just let it ring without anyone answering. the bloke on the phone spoke with a really strong asian accent too.

I got a call from someone claiming to be from BT saying there was an issue with my internet and they could fix it. The number started with 00800, so I almost believed it, but it seemed strange since BT hardly ever get round to sorting problems without me reporting them first. I called BT directly, and they said they hadn't tried to reach me. When I tried phoning back, the number showed up but no one answered. The guy on the phone had a pretty thick Asian accent.
