10 yearsI always avoid picking up calls from this number, it's such a pain and really annoying.10 yearsThey rang me but didn’t say anything or leave a voicemail.10 yearsThey can be really annoying, calling almost daily once they get going. Since they're based overseas, there’s not a lot you can do to block them. I just avoid answering at all and let it go to voicemail. Unless you subscribe to some paid service like BT Call Minder, you’re pretty much stuck with it.BT10 yearsSo early this morning, I got a call from some bloke claiming to be from Microsoft. I didn’t hesitate to tell him he was a complete scammer, couldn’t help myself, it was first thing and I was still waking up! The guy kept saying he worked for Microsoft and told me not to swear, but I shot back saying if he really was from Microsoft then I’m the queen of England. Then I just hung up on him. What a joke!MicrosoftHer Majesty10 yearsSome bloke with an Asian accent rang me, saying he was from Microsoft’s tech team. Even after I called him a cheat and a scammer, he didn’t back off. I ended up telling him to get lost and then hung up.MicrosoftTechnical Department10 yearsThey just kept rambling about some ID number and claimed my laptop was constantly messaging them. I hung up, but they rang me back three more times afterwards.10 yearsLike many folks here mention, I'm a bit iffy about it. I’ve got a call blocker and so far, no junk calls have slipped through. I’ve just put this number on my block list, so if they ring back, they’ll probably get the busy signal.10 yearsAbout a year ago, I got myself a BT8500 call blocker, also known as the Guardian, and honestly it's fantastic at stopping unwanted calls - nailed 100% so far. Before this, I was getting swamped with around ten random calls daily from all sorts of places, but now? Not a single one slips through. It's especially great for older folks because you just save the contacts you actually want to chat with. The rest get picked up by the Guardian, which then rings you to check if you want to answer. If not, you simply add the number to your block list and the Guardian makes sure you won't be bothered by them again. Proper handy!Guardian10 yearsI got a call from someone with an Asian accent saying they were from Microsoft, telling me my computer had a virus. When I told him to take my number off his list, he just talked over me like I wasn’t even speaking. I kept asking him to stop calling, but he ignored me and claimed he’d cancel my computer licence if I didn’t listen. He was pretty pushy and didn’t end the call straight away.Microsoft10 yearsGot a call from an Asian lady claiming to be from Microsoft, said my computer had damaged files. She refused to believe me when I said everything was fine. Insisted my pc would crash in a couple of days. Even after I called her out as a scammer and a crook, she just wouldn’t give up. Honestly, I found her stubbornness quite amusing. Ended up telling her to jog on, in no uncertain terms.Microsoft10 yearsI got one of those Windows technical support calls and I kept telling her it was a scam. She really didn’t seem happy about me calling her out on it more than once. I said I reckoned my son over in Spain might have one (another fib). I asked if they were from Microsoft, and the guy said yes, calling from Nevada, USA. I had a bit of time to spare, so I just kept them on the line. Eventually, the caller admitted there’s loads of scam calls about 'Windows problems,' but apparently, this one was legit - yeah, right! When I asked who they were trying to reach, he said a Mr Mac Robson or something, which definitely isn’t me.SpainMicrosoftNevadaUSAMac Robson10 yearsMy daughter answered a call from someone claiming there was a serious issue with my Microsoft account. My number's unlisted and ex-directory, so it's weird. One time I played a message left on the answering machine, and all I could hear was some chatter in a language I couldn't understand. The woman asked me for the name of the person who made the threat, but I explained it’s unlikely they’d leave one. She just said “have a nice day” and ended the call. They ring me all the time but don't say anything or leave a voicemail. Is there a way to get them to stop?10 yearsBeen getting these annoying calls from a power dialler showing this number as the caller ID, but it’s all fake - just endless ringing then an automated voice saying “Goodbye.” Feels like payback for when I called out that Microsoft tech support scam a while back. I checked how you report this rubbish in the UK, and honestly, the system’s a joke - completely useless. We really need proper action to go after these scam companies and the folks allowing this to happen here in the UK, because it’s just wasting people’s time by the bucketload and probably costing some poor folks a fair bit of cash too.MicrosoftUK10 yearsI've had this number call my landline about four times just this past week.10 yearsI get calls from this number a few times every day even though I've told them to stop. As soon as I mention I'm aware it's a scam, they just hang up. It's really annoying that they keep ringing me anyway.10 yearsJust a heads up, these people are fraudsters pretending to be from Microsoft, telling you your computer has a virus that no anti-virus software can find. They called us twice on 27/01/17 and then rang again three times on 31/01/17. They tried to get into our computer using PC Keeper and Team Viewer. We naively believed them after the repeated calls. They managed to get into a personal bank account and altered the login info, but luckily Lloyds Bank caught it in time and flagged it as fraud.MicrosoftLloyds Bank10 yearsHad another scam call today, that makes two in just two days. My husband ended up answering the call and had a chat with this guy. He was quite abrupt and kept talking over him, which annoyed me. I told my husband straight away it was a con, so he hung up. She told me there was a virus on my Windows PC and if it wasn’t sorted out, it’d ruin the whole system. I told her I’d already caught a virus but managed to sort it myself, which was true. She didn’t believe me and said only Microsoft could fix it, and if I didn’t agree, they’d have to cancel my ID. I asked where she was calling from and she said California, but the background was really loud. When I asked for her contact number, she said she’d give it after the virus was removed. I insisted on having it upfront but she refused and got a bit confrontational. In the end, I said forget it and hung up.MicrosoftCalifornia10 yearsGot a call today, 21/1/16, from a woman claiming she was with Microsoft. She kept pushing me to switch on my PC so she could check the CLSID number. When I asked her for the number first, she rattled off a long code starting with 888DCA... I wasn’t comfortable with the whole thing and refused to turn anything on. When I asked for a number to call her back on, she said they don’t take incoming calls. I wrote down everything she told me and even got some instructions on how to check the CLSID myself later, but I won’t be following through with it. Felt a bit like a scam to me. Then he wanted me to repeat it back, so I just started rattling off a load of random numbers and letters, throwing in a 'foxtrot' here and there for laughs. I asked where his Microsoft office was based, thinking it’d be in the US. He said nope, he was in California. Then out of nowhere, he told me to shove it before hanging up. I told her she should be ashamed, trying to hack my computer when I’m a single mum struggling to get by, and shouted at her to find a proper job. She hung up right away. They can get really pushy, sometimes even rude, so the best thing to do is just hang up and block the number. Of course, that doesn’t stop the calls from coming through again! Honestly, it would be great if phone companies did more to help by giving us useful info, stuff like these reverse lookup sites. Maybe if we got our local community groups and papers involved, more people would be aware of these odd numbers. I’ve already rang my provider and they checked my internet, said there’s no problem. I’m planning to drop an email to my community’s monthly newsletter to raise awareness. When I asked for proof, he gave this software ID number and told me to jot it down - sounded pretty genuine. Then he wanted me to log onto my computer while we were still on the phone so he could walk me through fixing the so-called problem. That’s when I lost my cool and said I’d handle it myself and tried to end the call, but he just kept pestering me. I hung up on him, but he rang back twice straight away and I ignored both calls.
