Give me a shout-out if you've had a similar experience! I received a call claiming I was eligible for £8,000 from the government. However, they told me I needed to cough up £110 up front for some sort of processing fee. Sounds a bit dodgy, right?

Received a call earlier today around 10:59 in the morning. An individual with a South African accent claimed to be from an agency dealing with government grants. The conversation didn’t progress much because he presumed he was chatting with the number's owner. When I inquired about how he obtained my number, considering it’s ex-directory and registered with the Telephone Preference Service, he promptly ended the call!

I received a rather suspicious call from someone claiming to represent a government agency, insisting they were granting £8000. They provided a phone number to ring back, which was 02032392742, along with a reference number, MN1244. Sounds a bit dodgy to me!

From what I can tell, this number has been ringing me before, based on what others have mentioned here. I ended up reporting it to the police since, after a quick search, I found a fraud hotline to call. They phoned me again not long ago, and when I firmly told them to stop since it was clearly a scam, they tried to convince me otherwise. After realising I wasn’t buying it, they ended up swearing at me using some bizarre old Anglo-Saxon style language, which I guess has made its way over to the Indian subcontinent. Then they just hung up. I missed the call though.

Received a call at precisely 10:50 this morning, claiming I had been selected by the government to obtain a substantial sum of cash. They instructed me to contact 02032392749 and provided me with a code to claim the funds. Naturally, I didn’t fall for it and refrained from calling them back.

I got a call today at 1310 BST from the number 006767887878. When I answered, there was a few moments of silence before I was met with a cacophony of voices in the background-definitely sounded like a bunch of con artists working in tandem. After a brief moment, the call just cut off. I've flagged this number as a scam with my phone provider and plan to block it through their website as soon as possible.

there was this guy talkin with a thick foreign accent and i could hear loads of other voices in the background. he told me i’d won £8k for having a “good profile”. i just kept sayin yes or no, figurein it was probs a scam. then he asked if i wanted the cash through the post office or direct to my bank, i picked post office to be safe. after that, they gave me an approval code and told me to ring 02036083047 so some supervisor could sort the payment out. i called it, hid my number on my phone, but no one picked up. definitely fishy behaviour.

Got a call from this number and the guy sounded totally clueless, like he was just reading out loud from some script with papers shuffling in the background. I didn’t even bother replying, just hung up straight away. Also, about an hour before that, I had almost the exact same call from the same number - 00411682272. Such a waste of time!

I received a call from this number as well, claiming that my phone number had been selected at random by the government. An Asian gentleman was rambling on about some money I could supposedly claim. I told him to shove it, and he promptly hung up. That makes it the second Asian scam call I've had today! Unfortunately, I couldn't find any information on the other number, but this one was particularly aggressive, insisting on finding out my identity!
