Got a call saying I was eligible for 8 grand from the government, but first I needed to cough up £110 as a processing charge. Bit suspicious if you ask me.

Got a call this morning around 11am from a bloke with a South African accent claiming to be from some agency handing out government grants. The chat didn’t last long though - he just assumed I was the owner of the phone number. When I asked how he got my digits since I’m on the TPS and not listed anywhere, he just cut off the call right away!

Got a call from someone claiming to be a government official offering £8000. They gave me this number, 02032392742, and a reference number, MN1244, to ring back. Sounded fishy to me.

This afternoon my phone buzzed three times but every time I answered, the line went dead immediately. So weird!

I think this might be a scam call because they just hang up whenever I don’t respond. Definitely want to find a way to block this number.

From what I can tell, this number has been ringing me before, based on what others have mentioned here. I ended up reporting it to the police since, after a quick search, I found a fraud hotline to call. They phoned me again not long ago, and when I firmly told them to stop since it was clearly a scam, they tried to convince me otherwise. After realising I wasn’t buying it, they ended up swearing at me using some bizarre old Anglo-Saxon style language, which I guess has made its way over to the Indian subcontinent. Then they just hung up. I missed the call though.

Got a call around 10:50 in the morning from someone saying I’d been picked by the government to get a big cash payout. They gave me a code and told me to call back on 02032392749 to claim it. Of course, I didn’t bother calling them at all.

Today at about 1:10 pm BST, I got a call from 006767887878. At first, there was silence for a few moments, then suddenly I heard a jumble of voices and noise in the background, like a bunch of other scammers chatting or making calls. Before I could say anything, the call just dropped. I’ve flagged this number as suspicious to my phone company and I’m also going to block it through their online service.

there was this guy talkin with a thick foreign accent and i could hear loads of other voices in the background. he told me i’d won £8k for having a “good profile”. i just kept sayin yes or no, figurein it was probs a scam. then he asked if i wanted the cash through the post office or direct to my bank, i picked post office to be safe. after that, they gave me an approval code and told me to ring 02036083047 so some supervisor could sort the payment out. i called it, hid my number on my phone, but no one picked up. definitely fishy behaviour.

Got a call from this number and the guy sounded totally clueless, like he was just reading out loud from some script with papers shuffling in the background. I didn’t even bother replying, just hung up straight away. Also, about an hour before that, I had almost the exact same call from the same number - 00411682272. Such a waste of time!

Actually got a call from this same number saying my phone was chosen by the UK government for some money deal. The guy, a chap with an Asian accent, kept going on about cash I could claim. I just told him to jog on and then he just ended the call. It's the second dodgy Asian call I've had today! The first one was from a different number but I couldn't find any info on it. This one, however, was quite cheeky and kept asking who I was, which was a bit off-putting.

On 12th June 2015, I got a call saying I was owed £1000 from the UK Government but they needed my bank details first. Sounded a bit dodgy to me.
