7 yearsthis bloke said he was a bt tech, but its a known scam that’s been around forever. i told him to get a real, honest job and then he just cut me off. we actually have virgin, so we aren’t even on bt’s network.Virgin7 yearsGot a call at 11:06 on 14th May 2019, someone claiming to be from BT. Didn’t let her say much before I blocked the number using caliprotect.BT7 yearsIf you’re daft enough to let them guide you through that check, your computer will pop up with a bunch of error messages somewhere in the report. It’s actually nothing unusual since you don’t always get an instant connection online - it’s quick though, so you usually won’t see it happen. Those scammers will then try to push you into buying some security program or ask to remotely access your PC, likely demanding your payment info which they’ll happily take to nick your cash. Most probably they’ll slip some malware onto your machine too, setting you up for later trouble.7 yearsGot two calls this morning. The second was someone who said they were Steve, maybe from BT in Bradford, telling me there were issues with my broadband and I needed to turn my computer on. They mentioned loads of error messages and stuff. The number started with 0061, which is actually an Australian code. I also got a different call earlier from another 0061 number. Pretty sure this is just a scam, scam, scam.SteveBTBradfordAustralia7 yearsI've got three calls from this number already today! My call blocker just ignored them all. When I checked with 1471, it read out the digits but then said "please hang up" rather than the usual "to return the call." That made me think it’s a dodgy or non-existent number.Submit Your Own Report ((02) 9856 9854)
