This number keeps ringing me, but whenever I answer, there’s no one on the line. What bugs me the most is that my number is totally new (I barely remember it myself) and it’s supposed to be unlisted. How on earth did they get hold of it? Is there a way to block them?

Got a call earlier today from a guy who sounded like he might be from India or nearby, claiming my computer was under attack and would shut off in ten minutes. I quickly ended the call, and my computer’s still fine. Since I’ve had a stroke, these calls really unsettle me, but I guess they’ve got more to worry about than I do. Does anyone actually fall for this stuff?

Just before noon today, my wife answered a call from a lady who sounded Asian. She greeted with a "hello," and the lady responded the same way but then suddenly disconnected.

Well, I was lucky to be out when this number rang me at 10:39 earlier. I have this feeling they'll keep ringing, but I'm on my guard now thanks to the tips from others here. Cheers to everyone who shared their experiences!

Every single day, this number rings up my 84-year-old mum, which is really annoying. The last time, they were quizzing us about what household stuff we have and if there's a dog in the house!

Had a call from a woman speaking with an Indian sub-continent accent, saying someone called Peter Jones and George Thompson tried to send a fax to my IP last night around 10 pm but had errors. She asked if I’d been on my PC then. When I asked what my IP was, she rattled off a number that wasn’t mine at all. They’re definitely getting smarter with these calls. Always know your actual IP beforehand and ask them to confirm it. If they can’t get it right, it’s a dead giveaway they’re trying to con you. If by some chance they do, just thank them for the heads up, say goodbye, and then check things out yourself later.

I keep getting calls from folks claiming to be from Microsoft or Windows, telling me my computer’s got a serious problem. They usually say their name’s John or something similar, with a strong Asian accent. They always ask me to switch on my PC. One time, they said they were from BT about my internet, but I haven’t had a BT deal in over 15 years. I told the woman “that’s a brand new one” and she just hung up without bothering to ring back.

For months now I've been getting loads of calls from this number, like several times each day. Today I lost my patience and told them to stop calling me. They ended up being really rude and even left some nasty messages on my answerphone. I've tried everything to get them off my back - hanging up straight away, letting the call go to voicemail, nothing seems to work. Does anyone know how to make them stop?

He told me there were messages coming from my computer, and I was like, what computer? I don’t own one. Then he asked if I was sat in front of it. I got a bit annoyed and said again, what computer? I don’t have a computer! He just hung up on me. Well, that’s a bit rude if you ask me. ;)

Got calls today on 07/03/16, three times, about my grandparents' computer supposedly being in some serious trouble. The person wouldn’t say who they were or what company they were with. It was an Asian woman who turned quite nasty and pushy towards the end. My grandparents are well into their 80s, so I’m really glad they didn’t take the bait!

I got a call from this number on the 29th of October but I wasn’t home to answer. Weird thing is, they didn’t leave a voicemail or anything. They haven’t tried ringing me again since, but honestly, I’m gonna block them next time I check my phone settings.

Got a call from some bloke wanting me to look at my computer screen and stuff, really rude guy. Felt like a total scam and he just wouldn’t stop ringing me back. I hung up on him telling him I knew it was dodgy, but he still called three times one after the other. Honestly, it was pretty annoying and made me feel quite harrassed.

Today I got a call from this number, but the guy on the other end sounded foreign and his voice was really muffled. I called him out thinking it was some kind of scam and just ended the call. Later when I looked up the number, it showed up like the one here but with an added zero at the start, like 0005274... or something similar.

Had a phone call today from someone claiming my computer had an issue. Told them I was just leaving and would call back later, then shut down my PC. Got caught out by this scam before, they managed to access my computer info - luckily not my bank stuff. Still, I had to pay to get the malware sorted and ended up changing all my passwords.

Got a call earlier, so I told the bloke I was working in Avon and Somerset police control centre. Then I asked him to give me the 2nd and 3rd letter from our Microsoft password. He mucked about a bit trying to get it right but eventually called me an idiot. I told him that wasn’t the password and I’d report him for fraud.

Had a couple of those IT scam calls within just 40 minutes. I run a business, and honestly, I don’t need this kind of hassle. When you don’t pick up, they just might ring back and then the number pops up as coming from overseas. BT charges enough already, they ought to have better ways to block these annoying calls.

On Saturday the 19th of September 2015, I got a call from a man with an Asian accent claiming he was ringing from "14 Hanover Street, London" about fixing some issues on my computer. When I asked why he was cold calling me despite me being on the Telephone Preference Service, he became quite rude. Then, on Tuesday the 22nd, a woman, also with an Asian accent, called from the same number saying it was regarding my computer. I tried to find out who she worked for but all she would say was "14 Hanover Street, London". I told her to stop with the annoying calls and she just ended the call. The following day, Wednesday 23rd, a lady with an Asian accent said she was from BT and wanted to talk about my IP address. I immediately disconnected. Later that evening at 7:15pm, I answered a call but no one spoke, though I could hear some noise in the background.

Got a call from someone claiming to be from Microsoft, saying my PC was about to crash tonight. They told me they’d seen error alerts and could sort it out if I logged in. Felt something was off right away, so when I asked a few questions, the bloke just ended the call. Pretty sure it was a scam.

Earlier today, Monday 31 August, I got a call from the above number. The woman on the line had an accent that didn’t sound local and said she was from Microsoft. She mentioned she was calling from an address she gave as 14 Hanover Street, London, and warned me about a scam targeting Microsoft users. She claimed she could assist me if I shared my computer details. I was quite suspicious, so I asked for a phone number to call her back after I switched on my PC. She wasn’t happy about that and repeated her London address. I ended the call there. Shortly after, my phone rang three more times, showing 02125 on the screen. I chose not to answer any of those calls. Since then, no other calls like that have come through.

Hello, Today at around 1:10 pm, someone called my landline in York pretending to be from computer tech support. I politely declined and ended the call straight away. It definitely felt like a scam. Be careful out there and don’t share any personal info, especially about your computer or bank!
