I keep getting calls every day from these folks, sometimes they use another number starting with 0019916. If I act clueless, they immediately bring in someone they call an 'expert' to make it sound more legit. I usually ask for specific info and have them read out certain messages. They already know my full name and address, which is a bit worrying. They mention a CLSID: 888DCA60-FC0A-11CF-8F0F-00C04FD7D062. I read somewhere (http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-security/i-received-a-call-from-someone-claiming-to-be/f446dc12-541a-4dc9-8324-eebf251c4c4f) that the ending part 00C04FD7D062 looks a lot like a MAC address. The first six digits point to Dell, which matches the manufacturer of the network card inside your PC.

Every day we get at least a couple of calls from folks with Indian accents, telling us there's an issue with Microsoft. Problem is, we don't even use Microsoft!

This number has been driving me nuts! I've had four calls from them today alone. Each time I've stopped the call either by using my answerphone or by blocking the number straight away. I never actually answered or talked to whoever it was.
They rang first around 11:35, the next one at 11:50, the third call came through at 13:13 and the last one, if I remember correctly, was about 14:30.

This number comes from Denmark and uses IP phone lines. They actually have access to everyone's addresses when they call. Even if your details are in a public phone directory, don’t ever say “yes” no matter what they claim.

This number rang me just now and, honestly, the person was really stubborn. Scary thing is, they even knew where I live. They asked me to switch on my computer and sign in so they could fix some issue. Seriously, don't pick up or just cut the call right away!

Today I got a call from this number. The person on the other end started by saying I use Linux, then tried to say my surname and where I live, but he kept messing it up. I told him that wasn’t my name or address, then ended the call.

I'm based in France and these calls just won't stop either. No matter if I tell them off or just humour them a bit, they still manage to ring me around once a day, sometimes twice or three times. Occasionally, there might be a whole week without a single call and I think maybe they've given up, but nope - they always come back. This has been happening for well over a year now. Now I just reply to them in French and that usually makes them hang up straight away, but I'm sure they'll call again soon. M.Y.

Over the last few days, this number has been ringing our home phone, and it called again today. The person on the line spoke English but had an obvious Indian accent. The background noise made it sound like they were in a hectic office environment. They claimed to be a Windows employee and said there were serious issues with my computer. I’d heard a very similar story last year from someone pretending to be from Windows, who tried to get me to download or upload some kind of software to hack my system. That time, I ended up having to wipe my whole computer and freeze my bank account. So, heads up, folks! This time, I told the caller I’d be reporting them to the police and hung up. When I looked the number up online, turns out it’s registered in Denmark.

8th December 2014, 09:47 AM CET Got a call from them today, like they do almost every day. About a year ago when the calls first started, I picked up and some bloke with a typical Indian accent said he was from Windows and my computer was riddled with viruses. I didn’t buy it for a second, but figured it’d be fun to mess around and pretend to be clueless just to waste his time and see how long I could keep him talking. In the end, I kept him going for roughly 15 minutes before he lost patience and just hung up. :D What’s funny is they obviously know I’m not the easiest mark, but they keep calling regardless, again and again. I’m thinking I’ll take the call again soon and maybe record it. I was gonna upload it to YouTube, but there’s already loads of videos like that out there showing these scammers getting played. Still, it’s pretty entertaining to see them get pranked.

This number has rung me loads and the guy on the other end says he's from Microsoft. He even threatened to block my computer, saying there’s an issue while I’ve got Norton running on everything. Always the same Indian man’s voice. Quite annoying.

On the morning of 8th December 2014, around 9.44am here in the Netherlands, I got a call from this number. I answered but there was silence on the other end. Knowing about scam calls from various countries, I quickly ended the call. Later, I looked up the number online and stumbled upon this site, and I’m happy I can share my experience here.

Hi there! I keep getting calls daily from a bunch of people who sound either Indian or Chinese. They keep claiming it’s Microsoft support, but it's definitely a scam. They ring me a few times each day. The number they use is virtual, and I’m sure the operators are aware of it, but it still feels very dodgy and illegal. Honestly, it sounds like they’re running some kind of con. If you’re tired of these calls, I’d suggest reaching out to your phone provider, Microsoft directly, and even reporting it to the Police.
