Phone number ☎️ 0045216 👆 is reported as a frequent source of scam calls, often with callers pretending to be from BT's technical or cyber security department. Callers, usually with Indian or Asian accents, try to convince recipients their internet or computer is hacked and ask them to run commands or install remote access software. There was a lot of noise in the background and it was really difficult to make out what the caller was saying. The person sounded like they weren’t local and claimed to be calling from BT. They asked if I lived in a certain postcode but when I said no, I just ended the call. A few weeks back, I had another call like this one, where the caller got really aggressive and started saying some awful, threatening stuff that left me feeling quite shaken.

I received a rather dubious phone call from a chap with an Indian accent who professed to represent BT’s National Cyber Security division. He asserted that my internet connection had somehow fallen prey to a recent cyber attack and went on to request various details from my computer. Just a heads up, if you find yourself in a similar situation, remember that the genuine BT Security contact number is 0800321999. Don't fall for these fraudulent characters trying to pull a fast one on you!

Got a call from a guy claiming to be with BT, said my computer was hacked and I needed to switch it on. His accent was quite hard to follow, so I asked if he could put someone on the line who spoke clearer English. Right after that, he just ended the call.

Got a call from someone saying they were with BT, but it smelled like a dodgy scam from India. Watch out, it’s definitely not legit.

So my mate reckons he has a clue where these BT tech folks are hiding, and if he nails down the exact spot, we're totally thinking about paying these muppets a little visit.

Got a call from some Asian bloke claiming he was from BT, saying there's a problem with my Internet. I told him everything's fine, refused to be tricked, and just ended the call right away.

Nope, I had no clue my internet would be down for three weeks. It was some lady with an Indian accent calling.

I got a call from a woman with an Asian accent claiming to be from BT, saying they'd send me a new router without any cost. She told me to get on my computer and do some stuff, but I refused. After that, she just hung up on me. This is the third time I've had similar calls. I told them if there’s an issue, they should send an engineer around since that's why I pay. She got really annoyed, mentioned something about hacking me, and then slammed the phone down. Proper rude and pushy!

Got a call today from a lady named Christine with an Indian accent, she claimed she was from BT saying my broadband got hacked. She was quite rude when I said I'd ring BT myself to check, so I did. Turns out, BT confirmed it's a scam and they're looking into it now.

I got a call from an Asian bloke and my other half picked up. He said he was from BT and wanted her to go online so he could point out some internet problems. He didn't even bother asking for who the account was under or any details. When she said no, she just ended the call. Then the phone rang again and this time I took it. The guy couldn't say who the account holder was or give me my own name or address. Totally a scam, no doubt about it!

Got a call showing International 0045216 on the screen. I hung on until the answerphone should have picked up, but there was just silence before it ended. They didn’t leave any message.

Some bloke with an Indian accent called, saying he was from BT. He had me open up the 'event viewer' to point out supposed 'errors' on my PC. I played along for about ten minutes, then told him I’m actually a Certified Microsoft tech and that I’d just mess about with their time every time they phoned. Told him to remove my number, and he just hung up.

Sounds like a total ripoff to me. Don’t trust it, could be some kind of scam. Just be careful if you get a call like this!

Got another call from the same number today. As soon as I answered, the line went dead. Then it rang again, this time claiming to be from Microsoft saying my computer was hacked and telling me to turn it on. I told them to get lost and said, "You're the hacker, aren’t you?" They hung up straight away.

Got a call from a bloke who had a strong Indian accent claiming he was calling from London - but my caller ID showed it was coming from abroad! When I told him to stop calling, he just asked why. I explained my number’s on the TPS list and to leave me alone. Instead of backing off, he kept threatening to call me over and over again, starting tomorrow. Watch out for this one!
