Shortly after, we found ourselves speaking to a woman who rattled off her words at a dizzying pace, clearly used to this sort of interaction. She immediately started asking for our personal details, which luckily, we didn’t have on hand. We pressed her for clarification about the call’s purpose, but she merely insisted that we should call back and provide our information, assuring us that then they could shed some light on the situation. Quite baffling, really!

I can assure you, this was definitely not a fraudulent call. The number belongs to HSBC's scam awareness team. They were quite helpful and even issued us a reference number, C1, for our records.

I can assure you, it's completely legitimate. I had my doubts at first, so I decided to ring up HSBC using the contact number provided on their official site. They verified that they'd indeed placed a call to me and subsequently connected me to the appropriate division, which as others have mentioned, happens to be the Fraud Detection unit.
