Somebody said they were from BT Openreach about my internet being slow and wanted to check my speed. When I questioned them since they aren’t my provider, they claimed they supply the lines for all companies. They used a very English name but had a strong Indian accent, and I could hear call centre noise in the background. When I called them out on it, they denied being in a call centre then hung up. Felt like a scam to me, probably trying to get into my computer.

Got a call around 5:30pm from an unknown international number, so I just didn’t answer it since I didn’t know who it was.

How do they expect to fool anyone when they're ringing from the same number but pretending to be from all sorts of places like accidents, HMRC, and stuff? You'd think they'd get it that if one person gets told one thing and another hears something different, it's obvious a scam! These unwanted calls are so maddening! Got a call at work from someone saying they were with BT. They tried to get me to open up MS Config but I played along for a while. After about five minutes I told them I was actually at an IT firm and ended the chat nicely.
