Earlier today, I received a duo of calls from Switzerland. On the other end was a chap inquiring about Monika Portmann-definitely not me! At first, he chatted away in Italian, but then switched to his not-so-fluent German. He also dropped the name San Lorenzo in conversation. I'm quite curious to pick up the phone if that number buzzes again. Oddly enough, I find myself in Tuscany this summer!

Got a call from some lady claiming I could get free Italian food. Sounded a bit too good to be true, so after being polite for a bit, I ended the call thinking there must be some trick involved.

Just today, I received a rather peculiar phone call myself. A woman on the other end inquired whether I fancied Italian cuisine. I must admit, I hung up without uttering a single word. What struck me as particularly odd was that this caller specifically asked for me by my full name! How bizarre! I never engage in competitions, and if I do, I always ensure to keep my number under wraps. It's all quite suspicious, really. Looks like yet another instance of someone mishandling personal data, if you ask me.

This afternoon around 3:30, I got a call from this number here in Germany. I looked it up on your site and realised I better not ring them back. Thanks to everyone for the heads up!

I just received a call from that number as well, my first encounter with it. I didn't pick up, though, because earlier today I had a call from a different number that also had an Italian code flashing on my screen. I did manage to track that one down on various internet forums, but no one seemed to have a clue about it either. It’s likely just the usual spam or marketing calls that we often get bombarded with.

I missed the call but decided to check the number here first, honestly relieved I didn’t pick up.

Als ich ihm klar machte, dass ich nicht interessiert bin, erwiderte er nur: "Scheiss auf dein Interesse" und legte auf. Wenn man versucht zurückzurufen, bekommt man nur das Besetztzeichen zu hören. Sie scheinen ganz schön beschäftigt zu sein...

This year ive decided to actually pick up when those annoying phone calls come through. I just tell them how much I enjoy getting bothered and straight up say they can go %&k themselves. Honestly, its kinda fun to mess with em!

Got a call from someone with a strong accent, sounded like he was calling from Italy, wanting to talk to the last person who had my landline. Thing is, I’ve had this number for more than five years! Totally confused me.

For the past fortnight, I've been receiving calls from this number every couple of days. They usually kick off around ten in the morning and carry on until about six in the evening. This seems to ring a bell; I had a similar experience roughly a year ago when I picked up once and haven't heard a peep since! My phone number has never been listed anywhere, and I'm currently residing in Switzerland.

Someone called asking if I was Mrs Carman. I replied in broken English, saying "no, no idea" over and over, deliberately mixing up "no" and "know" to avoid letting on I understood perfectly well. Heard somewhere you're better off never agreeing to anything on these calls because they can twist your words and try to charge you money. She quickly said something like “Good, cause dey ar wanted by police, very well known in Amsterdam” and insisted “I’m sure it’s you Mrs Carman”. When I stopped responding, she got really rude and hung up abruptly as soon as she heard me start recording (had to use my other phone for that). Her last words were “Do you know about a lost wallet? Hello? Can you answer me Miss Carman?!” Honestly, best bet is just don’t pick up, don’t call back and don’t give out any info. Feels really dodgy.

I've been getting a barrage of calls from various numbers, all during the morning hours, following my inquiry about Italian cuisine and my interest in a job in the hospitality sector. It's rather perplexing, to say the least!

I just received the same call myself, and I too am situated in Switzerland. The caller hung up immediately. It's rather infuriating encountering such dubious behaviour!

Got a call from an Italian lady asking if I was into Italian cuisine. I told her to get her manager on the line, and then he began swearing and being really rude. It was kinda entertaining for me, but I guess it’d be pretty scary if you were a kid or a woman.

Ich kann das nur bestätigen: Diese Nummer ruft ständig an, aber ich habe es bislang nie geschafft, den Anruf entgegenzunehmen. Daher kann ich leider nichts Weiteres dazu sagen. Auffallend ist jedoch, dass bislang überwiegend deutschsprachige Nutzerinnen und Nutzer hier ihre Erfahrungen teilen.

This lady from Italy just kept going on about Italian dishes, even though I told her I’m not really into that kind of food - haha. She just kept chatting endlessly, so finally I had to say, “No thanks, I’m hanging up now!”

Whenever I get calls from unfamiliar numbers, I just let them ring out. Recently, I decided to jot these numbers down, and now my notebook is full with 34 of those annoying calls!

Got a call from a younger lady who was asking my mum loads of questions about food. She seemed nice enough, just wanted to know about what mum eats and stuff. Thought it was a bit unusual but harmless, so I just let her talk to mum for a bit.

Just got a call pushing Italian olive oil and various other foods. So irritating!!

Since the number showed it was from the Vatican, I just ignored it. If the Pope really wants to chat, he’d need to give me a ring personally.

Hello from Copenhagen! I got a ring from +390104211500 just now. A bloke said he's from San Lorenzo, some Italian food company, asking if I liked Italian grub. Apparently, they're running a promo where they send you some food for free, and then I’d have to call back and give my thoughts on it. I wouldn’t be charged until it arrived, which they'd send through regular post. He only asked for my first name and either my address or postal code - can't quite remember which. I told him I wasn’t interested, we said goodbye, and I ended the call. All good!

Hey folks, watch out for a scam going around here. In the Netherlands where I’m based, heaps of people have been caught out lately. The trick is they ring your number and hope you don’t pick up. If you do answer, you’ll get some dodgy story. But if you miss the call and call back just to see who it is, you end up dialling a pricey premium rate number. Even just waiting a few seconds for someone to pick up can cost you a small fortune. So my advice: don’t bother calling back unknown numbers, especially those starting with +39 or +30!

They keep calling me asking for random names, never the same person. Got sick of it today and snapped at them - they weren’t exactly polite either!

Got a call around 6.30 in the evening from this lady who spoke with an Italian accent. She asked if I enjoyed Italian food but I told her I wasn’t really into it and then ended the call. 23rd of October, 2014.

I’ve had two calls from someone looking for a Mr Plumber. Both times I told them the number was wrong, but they seemed to have a foreign accent. After I said that, they just said sorry and ended the call.

Early this morning, about 8:50, a young woman rang me up - sounded like she had an Italian accent - and asked if I was into Italian food. I told her I wasn’t really up for answering her questions. Just to be clear, I’m based here in Scotland.

so this afternoon i got a ring from some italian bloke trying to hawk a food hamper for 50 quid. i told him i couldn’t afford it and he kept going on about how it’d save me cash in the long run. i just said no thanks and ended the call. this was in ayrshire on 14 july 2014.

Er kannte sogar meinen Nachnamen und hat direkt danach gefragt. Ich fand das so amüsant, dass ich einfach gelacht habe, und er hat mitgelacht, bis ich das Gespräch beendet habe.
