Just got a call from some Google Maps number asking me to verify my business address. Thing is, I don’t have any dealings with Google or Maps, and my business details are already available on Companies House. Can't figure out why they are ringing me.

Most likely a scam. I received a call from a call centre supposedly representing Google. I didn't engage much in the chat as they were fishing for my address and other personal details, which I found a bit dodgy. I felt they were gearing up to pitch me some sort of advertising on ‘Google’. Let’s be real, Google wouldn’t ever reach out to you out of the blue like that!

Some bloke said he was calling from Google Maps, but when i told him to just drop an email instead, he said they never do anything over email. Seems pretty dodgy considering google usually uses email for stuff.

My mobile phone started ringing, but I chose not to answer it. Then, the landline phone rang three times and suddenly disconnected. So, I decided to block the number using the service 1572. How frustrating! Those individuals are such MUPPETS.

So this number rang me up yesterday, claiming to be from Google Maps, saying our business address had been updated - which was true. Then, out of nowhere, I get another call from a bloke saying the exact same thing. When I asked why he was calling again, his tone suddenly switched and he got really rude. I even asked if the line was bad since he’d already told me who he was and the reason for the call. He then said he needed to verify the other caller’s work! I mean, would a genuine Google employee really behave like that? Didn’t think so. So I just blocked the number.

I was recently contacted three times from this particular number on my mobile phone, which is mainly used for my business purposes. This occurred within a span of just two days. Given that I do not know anyone residing in Ireland and my business is based in the Netherlands, I can't help but suspect that these calls might be part of some sort of scam. What makes it even more peculiar is that these calls began immediately after I updated my business address on Google maps.
