Got quite a few calls from this number yesterday, and it rang once today too. I tried calling it back by mistake yesterday, but there was no sound on the other end.

Sounds like a classic wangiri scam to me. If you return the missed call, you could end up with an enormous phone charge. It’s important to report these calls to the police so they get a clearer picture of how widespread these scams are. This site actually has a link to ‘Action Fraud’ right up top. Just click it, find the ‘reporting’ button, and follow the steps. If you already phoned back, you’ve been scammed and should definitely treat it as a crime to report. a lot of these silent or dropped calls arent always on purpose. sometimes companies use tech that tries to keep their agents talking to people as much as possible, which can end up causing these weird abandoned rings.
