I’ve just had a rather strange call from this number, claiming to be from the Telephone Preference Service. The chap on the other end had quite a thick Indian accent and went on to explain, in a rather roundabout way, that they’re supposedly enhancing their services to include blocking international calls. After what felt like an endless stream of chatter, he mentioned a nominal fee for this upgrade. I firmly stated that I wouldn’t be paying anything. It left me feeling quite uneasy, especially since he seemed to know my complete address.

A guy with a strong accent claimed he was calling from some call blocking company and wanted to know how we usually pay our phone bills. We weren’t about to share any payment info over the phone, so we declined and he just ended the call.

He kept droning on, and then handed me over to his so-called supervisor, who merely parroted the same spiel yet again. It seemed quite dodgy to me, so I decided to terminate the call.

I received a call from this number, and the person claimed they were from a call blocking company, inquiring about the expiry date of my direct debit. I informed them I didn’t possess one. They proceeded to ask for the expiry date on my Visa card, to which I promptly said farewell and hung up. It was quite alarming as they had my name and address and their English was rather poor. Very concerning indeed.
