I had no clue who was calling as the number was unfamiliar, and none of the things mentioned here had happened to me before. I picked up the phone, and the woman addressed me by what seemed like my old surname. When I corrected her, she just kept pleading for me to hear her out, saying it would only take a moment. Instead of saying why she was ringing, she sounded quite jittery and kept pushing me to listen. After struggling a bit with her heavy accent, I asked her to take my number off her list and never call again. That’s when she snapped, "Just be quiet and listen, ma’am!" I called her rude and ended the call right there.

I swear, I get way more calls from these idiotic telemarketers than from my actual mates or family. I've tried everything I can think of, but they just keep ringing. Now, I've stopped picking up altogether. If someone I know needs to get hold of me, they just call my mobile. It's a real shame the government doesn't bother to do anything about it.

Alternatively, TruCall now has the option of giving the caller a tone that indicates the number is "unobtainable," akin to a disconnected line-this often encourages those pesky scammers to remove you from their list. On another note, why not consider investing in a basic but loud whistle? The next time you see that number pop up on your caller ID, simply answer and give it a good blow. That should certainly catch them off guard!

Yesterday, 10th April 2015, at around 4.08 pm, this number rang my 86-year-old mum. She rushed to pick up and ended up tripping and falling. After looking into it, turns out this number is Egyptian - 0020 is the country code for Egypt. It’s definitely a scam. They’ve been ringing loads of folks, so best to warn older family members. What they do next is sell your information to other businesses. Those companies sift through the info to find whatever's useful to them, and then boom! I had the same issue on my work phone. Someone kept asking for a Mrs Webb, even after I told them it was a business line. The guy was so sure I was mistaken, I got fed up and shouted at him. He said sorry in the end, but then called back just a couple hours later. Absolute muppets.
