I knew straight away this was a sketchy number since it began with 00208. I used to just not pick up calls like this, but now I have a system. I switch off my landline’s answer machine, quietly answer the call, then hang up right away so I don’t get bothered by the phone constantly ringing.

Got a cold call earlier, at first there was just silence on the other end. Then a bloke with what sounded like an Asian accent asked for me by name. He mentioned something about lowering my phone bill and asked if I was the account holder. As soon as I said yes, he just ended the call. Got a random call from a woman with an Indian accent claiming she could lower my phone bill. When I asked who she was, she just hung up straight away. These sorts of calls are happening more and more now. I block one number and they just ring back from a different one! Such a pain.
