Got a call from a guy with a really bad connection, sounded like he was mumbling or talking way too fast, with an Asian accent. Didn’t even bother saying my name, just launched into trying to sell me some kind of insurance. I cut him off and asked where he got my number from. He claimed it was from the Government. I told him flat out he was lying and that what they’re doing is totally illegal, breaking data protection laws by keeping or selling my details without asking me. After that, he just ended the call. This was the second time I’ve had a call like this in just a week.

Got a call from a lady with a thick Indian accent who kept asking about my mum, even after I said she’d passed away. She didn’t seem to believe me and got quite shocked, saying “She’s dead?!?” It was really upsetting. She wouldn’t say who she was or what it was about. Best just to block or ignore if they call you.

Got a call from this number earlier today, about mid-afternoon on 10.6.2016. They just heard my voicemail and hung up straight away. Cheers to everyone who’s flagged this number. My advice? Set up an answerphone and let your friends and family know to leave a message (you can always jump in if needed). Then, add something like, “If you’re a cold caller, all calls here are filtered and you won’t get through.” Been working a treat for me!

Just had a call off an Indian guy, loads of noise and people chatting behind him. He was telling me I’d paid too much in bank fees and that they’d post me a cheque as a refund. When I asked which bank, he said Barclays. Told him I’m not with Barclays and ended the call. Don’t get caught out by this rubbish, they’ll likely pass your number around to a bunch of other con artists.

At around 5pm on 09/06/16, I got a call about my bank account. Sounded like an Indian guy talking and I could hear a crowd in the background, so I just hung up straight away.

On the morning of 1st June 2016 around 10am, my phone showed a call from a 0020----- number. Since it was clearly an international dialling code, I chose not to pick up. Honestly, these types of calls just disappear if you don’t respond. Speaking from experience - I worked as a telephone engineer for 35 years. The problem is if you do answer, the caller’s system marks your number as active and then it gets shared around to other scammers. So if you want to avoid this kind of hassle, it’s best to just let them ring out and don't engage.

This morning my landline rang from this number, and I got through to an Indian chap whose accent was pretty tricky to follow. He was telling me I'd be getting a cheque because I’d apparently overpaid for something. He asked me to confirm my name and address, which I did. Then he said he was going to connect me to a finance minister, but that’s when I told him I couldn’t continue the chat. He said goodbye and ended the call. After hanging up, I waited about half an hour before I decided to look up their number.

Got a bunch of annoying calls on the evening of 27th May 2016 around 8:38 pm. It was one of those automatic call centre things, but no actual person, just background chatter. Then they rang back about five minutes later. At first, just the same weird sounds again, then suddenly clicking noises followed by a guy with an Indian accent talking about accident claims. I told him I hadn’t been in any accidents. After that, it all went silent and the call dropped. Really strange and frustrating experience.

A woman with a foreign accent has been ringing about twice each day recently, asking for my husband by his name. She keeps pressing if I can pass a message on, but won’t say who she is before just cutting the call. My other half is always at work when she calls, so he can’t answer. I got a call from someone speaking with an Asian accent, pretending to be from the UK Claims Advisory Service. Hard to catch what they were saying, then another guy with a Dutch accent came on. They already knew my name and address but kept asking for other info. Obviously a scam, I didn’t give them anything and they said goodbye. Honestly, just hang up if this happens to you.
