On 14th January 2016, I got a call from 002062091039 at 7:35pm. It was completely silent at first, but after a bit, I could just make out a soft female voice whispering ‘goodnight’ before the line went dead.

They keep saying they're from this Accident Support Service and want to chat about a crash I supposedly had with Nan this year, but they haven't even got my name right. These calls kept coming to my house nonstop until I blocked all withheld numbers, but now they're ringing my work phone instead. I'm pretty sure the car repair place must have passed on my info to them. I have no idea how to prove it or get them to stop ringing me. Anyone got advice?

Some bloke called with a thick Indian accent and kept jabbering about a car crash I supposedly had, but I couldn’t make out the company he was from. The number’s actually for our business, not a personal one. He said, “I’m calling about your recent accident.” I told him, “No, you've got the wrong number.” He just kept insisting it was true, so I figured I’d save us both the hassle and said this was a company line. After that, he went dead quiet for a bit, so I just ended the call.

Got a call from this number the other day. A bloke with a strong accent said something about an accident I supposedly had. I told him nicely that he’d got the wrong person and ended the call. He sounded like he was reading from a script, pausing awkwardly after every line. I eventually cut him off and told him I wasn’t interested. These days, if you still have a landline, you’re likely to get a handful of calls like this every week, even if you’re ex-directory and signed up to the TPS like I am.

the caller’s voice had a bit of an asian tone and just kept repeating hello. in the background i caught a man saying something like good afternoon, this is ... health, but I couldn’t make out the full name. they ended the call pretty quick. I’m on the TPS list and my number is unlisted but calls like these from overseas still get through now and then.

Got a random call from someone saying it was about my supposedly recent car crash, which is total rubbish as I've never been in one. I’m on the TPS list, but they still rang. The accent made me think he was calling from India. As soon as I told him I’m on TPS and there was no accident, and asked what was the point of the call, he just dropped the line.

Just got a call from this number, sounded like it was coming from abroad. Some bloke was asking if I wanted to make a claim about a recent car crash. I told him I hadn’t been in any accident. He then asked if anyone in my family had been involved. I said my nan had. They got all lively and wanted to know more. So I explained she’d had a terrible accident where her head allegedly came off. I added she’s been suffering a nasty sore throat ever since. They quickly said, ‘Thanks, ma’am, we have to go now.’ I asked if we could chat a bit more, but they kept saying ‘Goodnight! Goodnight, ma’am!’ but didn’t hang up straight away. Then I told them I was tracking the call and that the police would be knocking on their door in about ten minutes. Maybe I should get out more… Anyway, I don’t think they’ll be ringing me again any time soon.

I didn’t pick up the call. The caller sounded like a bloke, and I think the number might be from Egypt. He left a weird message asking, “Are you a virgin?” I could hear other people chatting quietly in the background. Funny enough, my answerphone greeting is a male voice.

Got a call from some bloke rabbiting on about insurance payouts, asking if I’d been in an accident and all that. I just went along with it, saying yes to every question until he wanted the specifics of the crash. So I gave him the year, the exact date, even what kind of plane and the mountain it supposedly smashed into, then asked what I could claim for being dead. After a brief pause, he told me to “bugger off.” Must’ve realised I wasn’t the easy mark he hoped for. Reckon next time I’ll try something outlandish, like a disaster in Chernobyl or Bhopal!

The bloke just went on about some motor insurance bureau saying I’d supposedly been in a car crash. I’ve been driving for 30 years without an accident. I told him there was no way I had one and demanded they take my number off their list. He didn’t seem to get it, kept saying the same thing over and over then just suddenly ended the call.
