I received a call from someone with quite a strong Indian accent, making it difficult for me to decipher which company he was representing. He mentioned something about a car accident I was apparently involved in. I could tell it was a company line, not tied to any personal account. I told him outright, “No, that's not the case,” but he stubbornly insisted with a “yes.” At that point, I decided to clarify by informing him that this was a business number. There was an awkward silence after that, so I just ended the call.

Got a call from this number the other day. A bloke with a strong accent said something about an accident I supposedly had. I told him nicely that he’d got the wrong person and ended the call. He sounded like he was reading from a script, pausing awkwardly after every line. I eventually cut him off and told him I wasn’t interested. These days, if you still have a landline, you’re likely to get a handful of calls like this every week, even if you’re ex-directory and signed up to the TPS like I am.

the caller’s voice had a bit of an asian tone and just kept repeating hello. in the background i caught a man saying something like good afternoon, this is ... health, but I couldn’t make out the full name. they ended the call pretty quick. Got yet another persistent nuisance trying to chat me up about insurance claims. When quizzed about the accident, I played along and agreed to everything. But when he wanted specifics on the crash, I laid it all out: the year, the date, the month, the aircraft involved, and the mountain it met its unfortunate fate.
