On the 30th of November, around 10:40 in the morning, I got a call from this number. The bloke on the other end was seriously rude and aggressive. He never even bothered to explain why he was ringing me. When I asked to talk to his manager, he just started shouting and swearing at me, it was quite scary to be honest!

This morning, I received a call from a gentleman with an Indian accent, followed shortly thereafter by a woman who also reached out. They were both probing into my details, including the expiry date of my bank card. When I pressed the woman for a clearer reason, she claimed they already possessed that information and needed it for their records. I probed further, questioning why they would require such information for a complimentary service. Her tone escalated, and she reiterated her previous statement. I ultimately decided to cut the conversation short, as I suspected it was all a ruse. I'm grateful for the chance to share my experience and hope it serves as a cautionary tale for others.

I received a call from a gentleman who identified himself as being associated with the Telephone Preference Service. I was a bit wary, so I inquired about his location, and he claimed to be calling from London, which my caller ID corroborated. He then proceeded to ask me to verify my personal details, starting off with my name, address, and phone number, which he previously mentioned. However, he threw in an erroneous expiry date for my credit card. When I questioned the need for that information, he stated that my subscription to the TPS had lapsed and that renewal was necessary. I gave him my thoughts on that matter quite directly.

I got a call from an Asian lady claiming it was about some annoying calls I’d been getting. She then started talking about my phone bill being paid by direct debit that supposedly ended back in 2016. That really set off my alarm bells. Sounds like a classic scam to snatch your card info. Beware!

I received a dodgy call from an Indian chap who had a surprising amount of my personal information. He proceeded to ask me to verify my Visa debit card number, claiming he was from my bank, and alarmingly, he already knew the expiry date! When I requested his details in return, he abruptly ended the call. I've since informed my bank and promptly cancelled my card for good measure.

Just like others mentioned, I could tell it was a scam straight away by the lag and the dodgy connection, seemed like it was coming from overseas. He never actually asked for any cash or my bank info though, just told me I'd stop getting annoying calls from tomorrow (which we hardly get since we signed up with the TPS anyway). Got a call that turned out to be a scam, so I wouldn’t bother picking up. They try to charm you and sound really polite, but don’t fall for it. They’ll try to get your card or bank info, and then you could get charged without even realising. Just ignore and be careful!

They knew my name but when I asked for my address, they refused to confirm it. I told them they just needed my phone number to block unwanted calls. Then they suddenly started shouting, "listen carefully! You’re messing up your data." I was taken aback by their aggressive attitude and ended up hanging up.

Then he asked if he could confirm my postcode, and weirdly, he knew the exact one I live in. I told him I didn’t understand how the TPS and my phone number would be linked to my postcode, and I wasn’t up for answering any further questions. After that, he just ended the call.

There was quite a bit of background noise that suggested he was in a call centre. His accent seemed to be Indian or from Pakistan. It’s always someone from abroad, and normally I just hang up, but today I had enough and gave them a telling off - couldn’t sleep properly because of these annoying calls! It’s pretty funny how the guy calling to help block nuisance calls turned out to be a nuisance himself. His English was really bad and he kept rambling nonsense. I honestly wouldn’t trust a single thing he said.

Got a call supposedly from TPS about blocking nuisance calls, they then asked for my bank info which seemed dodgy straight away. TPS is meant to be free and you need to sign up yourself anyway. When I asked them where they were calling from, they just wouldn’t say. Told them they were a scam and hung up quick.
