I picked up the phone, thinking it might be an overseas call. To my surprise, it was a woman with an American accent claiming to represent a marketing firm-though I didn't quite catch the name, as I was a bit taken aback. She addressed me directly, even mentioning my address, and proceeded to inquire if I'd be willing to answer a few questions. I explained, rather courteously, that I wasn’t inclined to share any details or respond to her questions, so I bid her farewell and promptly hung up. I'm hoping that my polite dismissal will discourage any future bother. Regrettably, my landline doesn’t have the option to block numbers.

This evening at precisely 8:20pm, I received a rather peculiar call. A lady with a distinctly foreign accent inquired about my deceased wife. When I pressed her for her identity, she curiously wanted to know if I was a relative. I thought it best to respond with a simple, 'that’s not your concern, farewell,' before terminating the conversation. Out of sheer curiosity, I decided to return the call, only to discover, much like others before me, that the number was unlisted and could not be recognised.
