Got a call off someone named Steven Jones who said he was from TalkTalk. Then another voice, a woman called Susan, popped up saying it was about a refund. They wanted me to get the money through Western Union and asked for my card number, but I refused. Next, they started asking for my PayPal info. That’s when I knew something wasn’t right and just ended the call. I rang my bank straight away, and they told me someone tried to take a small amount from my account but it didn’t go through because the card number given was wrong.

I got a call from a guy who said his name was Steven and had an Indian or Pakistani accent. He claimed he was from TalkTalk, but I told him that the number he was showing on my phone wasn't one I knew at all. So there was no way it could be him.

For the past few days, I've been getting calls from the same unknown number and decided to just block it. Today, curious about who was on the other end, I finally picked up and got the exact same story as others have shared here. It's clearly a scam. There's a real risk it could install malware on a Windows PC or trick someone into tweaking settings that leave their computer vulnerable to hackers. Most assume these crooks just want cash, but they might also be using innocent people's devices to relay shady info for sketchy groups overseas, all without the user having a clue.

I got a call from a woman speaking with what sounded like an Indian or Pakistani accent claiming she was from TalkTalk. She said there was some issue with my broadband connection on my PC. I can assure you that’s total rubbish because my internet has been running perfectly fine without any faults at all. It’s one of those common scams where they try to convince you there’s a problem, then want to access your computer and charge you a big sum for “fixing” it!
