I got loads of weird messages from a Virgin number too, just a bunch of nonsense. Since then I’ve blocked the caller and now their texts don’t even go through, showing as failed. Funny enough, my McAfee subscription ran out recently and I reckon it might be linked to all this, so I’m thinking of getting rid of it altogether.

Just switched my sim card and suddenly got some rubbish text message that I couldn’t even read. Along with that, I also got 4 email notifications out of nowhere. Honestly, whats the point of getting unreadable texts anyway? It’s just annoying!

I've been billed for texts sent to this number as well. I reached out to McAfee support but they insisted it's not their number and claimed their app can't send messages like that. Plus, I've gotten some strange messages full of random symbols. This really feels like a scam to me.

still dealing with this issue since like june 2018. i keep getting these weird texts called ‘ktmsgs’ sent to my phone that i never asked for. every single message begins with %mac! (i put mcafee on my phone a couple weeks ago and it just locked the phone saying i tried swapping the sim card, which is totally not true.)

Happened to me as well, got a charge for a text on 22nd February 2018 and only noticed it on my current bill. No idea what the message was about, it was just rubbish. I also run McAfee on my phone, so not sure how it slipped through.

I had the exact same experience back on the 14th of March, 2018.

In the small hours, a text that cost me money was sent from my phone without my knowledge. I had put McAfee Mobile Security on my phone just the night before. At no point was I warned about this or asked if it was alright.

The same thing sort of happened to me like those two folks - I ended up being charged 30p after supposedly texting an American number that I never actually messaged. Funny enough, I've got the McAfee app running on my phone as well.

I downloaded the McAfee app on my phone, and strange thing happened the very same day - my phone sent a text to 0019253539035 without me even realising it. I only found out because my O2 bill showed a charge of £0.292 for it. Feels like McAfee isn’t very trustworthy with this kinda stuff.

Got a call from a number I didn’t recognise, and later when I looked at my online bill, I noticed a 29p charge for a text to the US that I definitely didn’t send. Really weird!
