Got a call from a guy with an asian accent claiming to be from BT. He was telling me my wifi was open to anyone and asked me to turn on my computer to sort it out. Then he gave me some long 22 digit code to type in. I played along but only turned on my kettle, not the PC. Let him blab on while I made a cuppa, just wasting his time. After a bit I called him out for trying to scam me and kept shouting "Scammer!" till he finally hung up. Classic scam attempt.

Just like everyone else said, if someones sayin they’re from a phone or computer company, I’d be super wary. Sounds dodgy to me.

Got a call from 0019169332426, said they were from BT’s tech team. The bloke had loads of background noise and was telling me my internet was in danger because of some sites I’d looked at. It’s ridiculous they’re still pulling this kind of trick. Honestly, it’s only working ‘cause some folks actually fall for it. What a joke!

Ref: 0019169332426 Got a call from someone with an Asian accent today, pretending to be from BT. They said my computer’s license software ID was hacked and they were receiving alerts about it. The bloke insisted he could fix it for me ??? I’m not even a BT customer, but he claimed BT owns all the providers and everything has to go through them. When I asked where his number was from, he told me it was a satellite line ?? When I said I’d ring BT directly to verify, he just cut me off.

Got a call from an Asian lady saying she was with BT. She started telling me about a CLSID that apparently "uniquely identifies" my computer, but it’s on pretty much every device so I knew she was talking rubbish. When I called her out on it, she just hung up on me!

Got a bloke on the phone saying he was from BT, but I hung up straight away. Later, I called 1471 and got this number, so I checked it out online. Seems like it might be a scam call?

Somebody rang me saying they were from Openreach. I just listened for a bit but didn’t really let them get anywhere. Told them to send me something in writing instead. Honestly, I’m not holding my breath for any letter to arrive.

Got a call from someone pretending to be from BT. I wasted about 10 minutes chatting with them. They claimed my IP address was exposed and tried to sell me some sort of “fix” for the problems they said I’d downloaded. Total rubbish. Then they began asking what I usually used the internet for - stuff like online shopping and when I last logged into my bank account. Honestly, it was such an obvious scam. They wanted to get remote access to my computer to nick whatever they could. Ridiculous!

This bloke called me claiming he was Kevin from BT, saying my internet router’s IP was under threat. When I asked him for some proof or details about my accounts, he got all stroppy and ended the call. Then, yesterday, someone else from the "same team" rang me again. I’m pretty tech-savvy, so it was obvious it was a dodgy scam. Watch out for this kinda thing!

On 17/2/18, I got a call from a man with an Asian accent at 1512 who said he was calling from BT. He told me he'd been watching my broadband usage and said there was some kind of issue. When I asked for a phone number so I could call back, he just said it wasn’t something I needed to know. Bit dodgy if you ask me.

I got a call from this ‘Dave Fernandez’ guy using the same number, curious to see what would happen. He asked me to install some app called ‘team support’ that lets someone else see your phone screen. Things got a bit tense when I told him to ring back at another time. He threatened to cancel our contract :)

Received a call from this number too, it was a bloke named Paul and some manager claiming to be from BT. They said there were problems with my PC's security and wanted me to log into a device. They even asked what devices I had and how many. When I asked if I could ring them back later, they gave me a London number 02032893669 (which I’ve also left a comment about). The manager started getting annoyed and spoke quite loudly, so I just hung up. Later, I got in touch with BT themselves and they told me it was a scam.

Just like James said earlier, I tried asking the guy for his number but he told me it’s “none of my business,” so I just ended the call. Honestly, I’d tell anyone seeing this to do exactly that.

Got a call from someone saying they were from BT Openreach, telling me my computer’s IP address had been hacked. Sounded pretty convincing at first. He insisted that I had to change my IP straight away or there’d be security issues. I told him I hadn’t noticed any problems and that my broadband provider hadn’t tried to get in touch with me. Then I asked him which server I was using, and he just cut me off. Definitely a scammer. Watch out everyone. - James B.

Got a call from a lady with an Asian accent claiming it was to warn me about a BT security issue. Total scam though, since I’m not even a BT customer.
