This was a finance scam and honestly it needs reporting. If you go to Google and search for ‘action fraud’, then pick the ‘police uk’ website, you’ll find a ‘reporting’ button. Choose the phishing reports option from the list. Keep scrolling down past the bit about scam emails and you can begin filing a report about this scam. You don’t have to sign up or anything. Just be careful, and help others by reporting any dodgy calls or messages you get. Stay safe out there!

Whenever I get a call from a really long number that I don’t recognise, I just ignore it. Lately, I’ve been getting loads of these calls from numbers that all look pretty similar, and I’m pretty sure they’re all connected. Don’t know who’s behind them, but they seem dodgy, maybe some kinda scam.

got a call from some bloke with a yankee accent, said he was from hunter and jarvis. he said he wanted to buy my sse shares for some client coz they’re planning a takeover or summat. claimed it was top secret stuff and was offering between £15 and £23 a share. he said he’d send me a confidentiality agreement and needed my fax or email to do that. i just told him to jog on and hung up straight away. he tried ringing again but i let it go to voicemail. he knew my name and called my home number, bit creepy if you ask me.

So, this bloke Ben Davis was dealing on behalf of a US law firm, involved in buying up scrip shares from Christian Salveson, which Norbert Dentressangle snapped up back in 2007. They said they’d pay something like £7 to £10 per share, and I had around 4423 scrip shares. Then they sent an email asking me to sign to let them take over my shares, followed by another one offering to buy them from me. Yeah, right, like I’m daft! What planet do these folks think I’m on? Seems like they were a bit confused, mixing up London Bridge with Tower Bridge or something.

So I got a call from this Ben Davis, claiming to be from a US law firm working on buying scrip shares from Christian Salveson, which apparently got taken over by Norbert Dentressangle back in 2007. He said they'd offer something like £7 to £10 per share and asked me to sign some emails to let them go ahead. I’ve got 4423 scrip shares, apparently. Honestly, it sounded a bit dodgy - like they expected me to just hand everything over. Feels like they think I’m daft, maybe got on the wrong bus somewhere, mixing up London Bridge with Tower Bridge. Not buying it at all.

So, Ben Davis representing some US law firm was involved in a deal to buy scrip shares from Christian Salveson, which Norbert Dentressangle took over back in 2007. They supposedly offered between £7 and £10 per share. I had around 4423 scrip shares and got an email asking me to sign some paperwork so they could take over my shares, then try to buy them off me. Yeah, as if. What do these lot think, that I’m daft? They couldn’t even tell London Bridge from Tower Bridge when they made the original purchase!

20/2/7 0019144444653 called from Hunter & Jacobs in the USA about some Reuters shares takeover thing. They wouldn’t send me anything by post even though they had my address, only wanted to do fax or email which I said no to. This is their third time ringing me now, pretty sure it’s a scam.

It rang just a couple times before hanging up, but I managed to catch the number on my sky caller ID.
