Got a call at 20:46 from an overseas number, seen on our caller ID. We just ignored it, didn’t pick up. If the scammer happens to be looking at this, all I can say is, borrowing a phrase from the Royal Navy, “go forth and multiply.”

This number kept ringing my mum over and over again. I warned them I'd be reporting the calls as harassment. Thankfully, haven't had a single call since. Fingers crossed it stays that way.

Someone rang me claiming they were representing a client interested in purchasing my shares in a company I actually own shares in. When I questioned where they’d got my details, she said it came from the client’s legal team. That set off warning bells straight away, so I just hung up.

This number 0018622340991 has been ringing non stop and it's really annoying. It always shows up on my caller ID, so I just ignore it every time. Pretty sure it's some sort of scammer, maybe from the US or one of the Caribbean islands.

Got a call at half past eight in the evening! Normally, I don't pick up if I don’t know the number and then look it up on ‘who called me’. When I saw the number began with 00, I figured it was international, which had me a bit uneasy for a minute, wondering if it might be family or mates from overseas trying to get in touch.

I've been getting calls from what looks like an overseas number (0018622340991) on my UK home phone. Never picked up as I don’t recognise it. Let it ring out to voicemail and the messages are just a load of background noise from call centres with no proper voice, but I did catch some bits about "banks", "selling", "good price" and a few big UK company names mentioned. There are some American and Asian accents too. Ended up blocking them both through my phone provider and on my phone itself.

Got a call today on my home phone from 0018622340991, a lady with an Asian accent saying I own shares in Lloyds bank, which is true. She actually knew my name. I interrupted and said I couldn’t follow what she was saying, asked her to send me something in writing, then I just ended the call. It’s quite unsettling. How on earth did she manage to get hold of my details like my name and number?

So this lady called me, said her name was Catherine Davies or something, and she was telling me about selling my mum’s M&S shares. Said there was a client ready to pay £7 a share and would send a cheque right away. I said I wasn’t interested at all, and before I could say more, she just hung up on me. Quite rude, really.

Got a call from a lady with an Asian accent asking for my husband. Told her he wasn’t home, but she kept going on about buying BAA shares, which I know were taken over ages ago! She said they wanted to buy and needed to send details by fax or email. I told her I don’t have a fax and my email isn’t working, so she suggested sending by post instead. Still insisted on needing an email though. In the end, I just hung up.

I've gotten two calls from this number now. Once on the 21st of August 2024 and then again today, 29 August 24. The first time, they were telling me something about Centrica being bought out by another firm because I apparently own shares or something like that. But when they called today, I didn't pick up straight away, and after a few seconds of me not answering, they just hung up without saying anything!

Got a call from a woman who sounded Asian, called herself Ms Lim, said she was from New York and was interested in buying BT shares, quoting a pretty high price. She didn’t sound like she was really from New York though, so I had a hard time understanding her. I told her to send me the info by email. Now I've got some non-disclosure paper from something called Bridgepoint Management Group LLC, but the name isn’t exactly the same as the Bridgepoint company in New York that I know of. She’s rung a few more times since then while I’ve been trying to figure out what’s what.

Got a call from a woman with an Asian accent, claiming she was from Centrica, where I own shares. She said the company was being bought out and they'd send me some papers by email to either agree or refuse selling my shares. Someone called saying they worked for a company trying to buy out BT and wanted to purchase my shares. I got a bad feeling because they seemed to know I’d sold some shares ages ago, but kept harping on about other BT shares I supposedly had. They had bits of info but clearly not everything. Got a call from a lady with a very American accent asking to talk to my husband about some Aviva shares. She actually knew his full name, which was a bit creepy. Got a call from someone claiming to be from a New York acquisitions firm. They wanted to chat about buying my father's Lloyds shares, which is odd since dad passed away years ago. Got a call from this number tonight, seemed a bit dodgy. They claimed to be reps for some investment company looking to buy over half of BT shares. Strange thing is, they already had my name and address. They mentioned paying anywhere from £8 to £17 per share which sounded fishy to me. Today I got a call from this number, they wanted me to fill out a form they claimed to have sent last week, which I honestly thought never arrived. They were coming back to a previous call from a US number about some shares belonging to my late husband that were supposedly now mine. I had no idea about these shares since all my late husband's finances were handled by his lawyer and accountant, and I told the woman that. Got a call from a woman with what sounded like a South Asian accent, out of the blue, talking about some Lloyd’s shares. I could tell straight away it was dodgy, so I told her to buzz off. She didn’t hang around and called me back pretty sharpish, then muttered something a bit rude before hanging up. Honestly, if she’s supposed to be a scammer, she’s not very good at it.

Got a call out the blue from this number about some stocks stuff tied to an overseas firm linked to someone who’s not around here. Oddly, the caller explained things clearly, which you don’t often get with dodgy calls, so I told them to try again later since the person they wanted wasn’t available. Totally fibbed there since I never entertain random cold calls. What caught me off guard was they actually rang back at the exact time I mentioned, even though my phone was on silent. I really enjoy messing with these lot and chewing up their time because it all seems pretty dodgy to me.

Got called about some Lloyds share takeover thing, like three times on our home phone. They kept asking for my husband, saying he should send them an email so they could reply properly. They said they’d emailed him before but he never got anything. Quite annoying really.

Someone rang my parents' landline looking for me by my first name, which is strange since I left that address over 35 years ago. Heard a few people say it might be linked to BT shares, which I did purchase back when I lived there. Could be a BT data leak, but either way, it felt dodgy - likely scammers.

They seemed to have my address alright, but the name was all wrong. It definitely gave me that call centre vibe, so I figured it was probably a scam.

Got a ring from someone called Amanda Lopez, claimed she was getting in touch about my M&S shares. She said a party she knows is looking to launch a hostile takeover but needs to buy up more stock, promising to pay well above market price for the shares. It felt a lot like other dodgy calls I've had, so I reckon it's just a scam trying to get me to part with my shares and likely disappear without paying a penny.

Got a call from GBX Strategic Advisors about a hostile takeover of Lloyd's Banking Group PLC. They were talking about a share price of £15.93 and asking for a 10% returnable bond of £4,000.00. Honestly, it felt a bit off and way too good to be true, so I just ignored it.

Got a call on my home phone from this number on the 5th of September, 2024, from a woman who said her name was Jessica. She already knew my name and mentioned something about Aviva shares, I think. I didn’t really get into talking with her though.

First, they spent a good while shouting abuse at me. Then they hung up, only to ring me back almost right away, saying my full name and where I live, and threatening to come over and beat me up.

Got a call from an Asian lady asking about my Whitbread plc shares - which I don’t actually own. She already had my full name and address, so I’d watch out for this one.

It was a woman on the phone, sounded like she had a bit of an American accent but not totally natural, maybe from Asia or somewhere. She was talking about some kind of aggressive takeover of Lloyds bank and wanted me to buy shares. When I asked who was behind it, she wouldn't say, so I just told her to get lost.

I got a call from this number about some shares in M&S, but when I told them I don’t own any, the lady on the other end got quite rude. I just ended the call. Then they phoned me back straight away but I didn’t pick up, and they didn’t leave any voicemail. With all the feedback I’ve seen about this number on here, I’m surprised no action has been taken against them yet.

Had a call this evening from a lady with a funny accent. She claimed Halifax was merging and promised I'd get shares that were valuable. She already had my landline and address, which seemed odd. I didn't share any details or my email, just asked her to send something in writing, which I'd show my solicitor. She agreed and then ended the call. Definitely a scam, don’t give them anything.

Got a call from a number that looks US based, but the actual caller must be way out west of America. Funny how these scams usually come from far east of here, not close! As usual, these fraud calls need to be reported, just like the police advise on the Action Fraud site for phishing. When you get a dodgy call, forward the details by texting 7726. If it’s a scam text, also send it to 7726. And for scam emails, they go to '[email protected]'. Reporting all this nonsense is the best way to help crack down on these scams.

I got a call from a lady with an Asian accent who seemed to know my name. She was talking about buying shares I supposedly had in some company, something to do with Virgin plc or what it used to be called. It was a bit confusing, so I hung up. Then she rang me right back almost straight away. The funny thing is, I don’t own any shares at all. After checking on ‘Who called my number’, I quickly realised it was just a scam.

Got a call from this number today, asking about someone who apparently lived here more than 30 years back and has been dead way before I even knew his wife. She’s been living here all along, and it took me ages to stop all those letters from some sort of investment firm. Now they’re asking if I’m family? Seriously, how did they even get my number? Doesn’t make any sense.
