Not that I’m saying anyone should do this, but I’ve heard people fight back like this: when you get a call, jump on your computer and head over to [#]netcraft[###]. Use the tool called "what’s that site running" and type in the web address of a well-known US government law agency. Once you get the IP address of one of their servers, tell the caller that’s your computer’s IP. Then keep them dangling, trying to access your computer for a good 5 minutes so all their attempts get logged by that gov server. Finally, just wish them a happy holiday and drop the call :)

Yeah, mine was the same - they were basically tryin to take over my computer.

I just received a phone call and the person on the line had a really strong Indian accent. She asked if I spoke English, and when I said no, she kept talking in the same thick accent. She already knew my name and phone number, then went on to tell me there was an issue with my Windows account. I quickly ended the call. It's baffling how they get hold of my personal details!

They were trying to get into my computer! Total scam.

Got a call pretending to be from Microsoft saying there was a problem with my computer. Totally a scam, thankfully I didn’t fall for it and blocked the number straight away.
