They rang me 7 times back to back while I was stuck in a meeting! According to Ofcom rules, companies aren’t allowed to phone you over 3 times in a day, so I knew something was off straight away. I reckon Airbnb might be giving out personal details or something, as it lined up with a problem I was dealing with with them. Lucky I didn’t pick up. I’ve gone ahead and blocked the number now.

Loads of folks have mentioned that this number is linked to AirBnB, but when they rang me, it was a message from GiffGaff telling me to update my 4 digit pin. I’d say it’s defo a scam. Pretty dodgy too, considering they want your pin! And in case you’re wondering if I misdialled, I triple checked and the call really did come from this number.

This number does seem to belong to AirBnB, you can verify it on their official contact page. I didn’t pick up when they rang. Since I rent out my holiday home through AirBnB, it could be them getting in touch. Still, it’s a bit odd the call came from the US rather than the UK office. After reading others’ experiences, whether it’s legit or not, I’m not sure I’d bother answering. Can a real number be taken over? Seems like it’s a proper number though.
