This bloke claimed he worked for Windows here in the UK and said his Supervisor had to issue me a new ID. I told him I don’t even use Windows, but he insisted I was lying since I apparently showed up on his list. I asked him to delete my details under GDPR rules, but he had no clue what I was talking about. I told him if he isn’t aware of GDPR, he couldn’t be based in the UK. Then I just ended the call.

I didn’t pick up since the number was unfamiliar, plus it was coming from Canada. Even though I have mates out that way, I’m pretty sure I know all their digits. I usually look up unknown numbers on Google, and just like I thought, this one’s a scam. So, I’ve gone ahead and blocked it!

Got a call from some bloke today claiming my computer was a Microsoft one and in danger. Thing is, I’m running Apple iOS, so it sounded really dodgy right away. He was pushing me to get by a computer and do exactly what he said to fix some 'error' popping up on their system. Honestly, it felt super sketchy and made me uncomfortable. These kind of scammers are everywhere now, hope no one falls for their tricks!

I usually just skip calls from numbers I don’t recognise. If it’s really urgent, they’ll leave a voicemail, won’t they?

Some bloke calling claimed he was from Microsoft and said my email was at risk. He even mentioned my name and a previous address of mine. When I told him he had the wrong person, he asked how I could be so sure and got quite annoyed. I just hung up on him.

Got a call from someone claiming to be Microsoft but I said yeah right, Microsoft doesn’t ring you up out of the blue. I told him to jog on straight away. He was trying to get my credit card info, total scam.

Got a call from someone claiming to be with Microsoft, saying my computer was at risk. He never actually checked my info properly, so I just hung up on him. There’s loads of these scam calls going around, and I work in IT and speak to Microsoft all the time - this number was definitely fake. Hopefully this warning saves a few people from falling for it too.

Got a call from someone saying they're from "Microsoft" about a supposed alert. Told them I'm smart enough to see through these scams. After that, they tried to scare me by saying they'd cut off my services. Lucky for me, everything's still fine and working.

Somebody called saying they were “Dave” from Microsoft and already knew my name, but they didn’t let me say much else. I just told them nicely to get lost and bugger off.

Got a call just like that, so I’ve gone ahead and blocked the number.

Got a call supposedley from the US, but the accent was definitely not American. The person said they were with Microsoft and said my computer was at risk. They wanted me to verify some numbers connected to a device. I just ended the call and blocked the number imediately.

Got a call asking for my husband by his name. When I mentioned he’s been gone for ten years, the bloke just asked if I still use his computer! Honestly, that was so cold. I didn’t even bother talking anymore and just hung up.

Got a call from this number where a lady with a weird accent claimed there was some big security issue with my internet. She said I needed to follow certain steps to fix it. I just put the call on speaker and let her go through all her instructions, basically letting her waste minutes and cash since it’s an overseas call. Not wasting mine tho, blocked straight away.

A guy rang up claiming he was from Microsoft, and after a pretty persuasive chat, he tried to get me to pay £99 so he could send a tech to fix my computer. I wasn’t having any of it, so I asked him to send me an email with all the info about the problem and the services he was offering, saying I’d want to verify things with Microsoft’s fraud team. He then said we had no time to waste and needed to sort it right away. I stood my ground and he promised to email me straight away, but naturally, no email ever came through.

Got a call from some bloke called John claiming there were problems with my internet. He said I was with BT, but I’m not even a customer there. I just told him to piss off and stop wasting my time.

Got a call late one evening, maybe around 10, from some bloke saying my internet was acting up and my computer was being hacked. Thing is, I don’t even have a PC at home! I asked for more info about who they were and why they were calling, but all they did was repeat the same spiel and sounded annoyed when I kept questioning them. Something felt off, so I told them to send me an email explaining the problem and to stop calling me. Of course, never got any email from them.

Got a call from a guy claiming to be from Google, telling me someone was using my account without permission. After he hung up, I looked into my account myself and couldn't see anything wrong. Just wanted to share in case it saves anyone else the hassle.
