I recently received a call from an Asian gentleman claiming to represent BT. When I enquired about the purpose of his call, he became quite irate. He then transferred me to his 'supervisor', who turned out to be the same person! I asked him to send me an email regarding the matter, reasoning that as a BT employee, he surely had my details. In response, he requested I verify my email address, to which I provided the first and last letters-neither of which was correct. He abruptly ended the call! Clearly, this is a major scam. I urge everyone to refrain from taking any action on your computer if you receive a cold call like this-just hang up! It's the most effective course of action!

Lately, I keep getting calls every day. Sometimes no one picks up, other times they just hang up, and often it's this Asian bloke fibbing about being from BT. Honestly, why doesn't BT do something to stop this? I'm seriously thinking of getting a whistle or something!

I found a great way to deal with this. I use a printer that can fax and have caller ID on my phone. Whenever I get a call from an unknown number, I just send it straight to the fax machine. After a couple of tries, the annoying caller usually stops bothering me because the automated system rejects the number.

Since I updated my BT package, this number kept ringing me non-stop. Definitely not from BT though, they come across quite dodgy and seem keen to get remote access to your computer! I reckon some people working at the BT call centre might be sharing personal info. It’s baffling that BT haven’t looked into this or shut the number down. The real BT only ring from an 0800 line, so there's no mistaking them.

This number has called me a few times now. A couple of times, someone with an Asian accent claimed to be from BT, but I told them my internet was fine and just ended the call. After that, I kept getting calls where no one said a word and the call ended as soon as I picked up. Quite strange really.

So I got a call from a lady with an Asian accent claiming she was from BT, saying my router was basically sending out some harmful signals. I asked if I could talk to her manager to get some clarity. Then this Asian bloke came on and repeated the same nonsense. He kept calling me "ma’am," and I told him to cut it out because it felt a bit patronising. After that, he just put the phone down on me.

Total scam! Got a call from a guy with an Indian accent, told me that someone was trying to break into my wifi both in the morning and again later on. He wanted me to turn on my laptop so he could delete some files or something. Thankfully, I wasn’t home with my laptop at the time, and thats when I knew it was all a con!

A bloke with an Indian accent called me claiming to be from BT. He said that someone else was using my wifi and told me to check my router. Then he asked if I was on my computer, but I said I didn’t have one. After I told him I didn’t have a laptop or even an iPad, he just ended the call. I’m gonna report it to BT - how can they ignore this stuff when there’s a number to track? Seems like someone should be doing more about it.

Got a call earlier from a bloke with an Indian or maybe Pakistani accent, said his name was Daniel Smith or something like that. He claimed he was from BT but wouldn’t give me my address when I asked. Kept cutting me off, too, which was so annoying. Eventually I shut him down with a few sharp comebacks and then he just hung up. Nice one!

Around 1 in the afternoon on December 21st, I got a call with nothing but silence for a bit, then an automated voice just said "goodbye." Looked it up here afterwards and realised loads of other people had the same thing happen.

I got a call from someone saying they needed me to run a computer program to check my ID for a payment from a company that doesn’t even exist anymore. I ended the call straight away after that.

If you're with BT, I'd suggest using their online chat support to let them know about the number. They say their Security team looks into these things and can block the calls. The more folks that report it, the faster they seem to move. We’ve got to try to stop these scammers somehow!

Got calls from this BT scam twice already. Honestly, I hope nobody ends up getting tricked by them - they seem to be targeting people who might be more trusting or vulnerable. I reported it to BT, and they confirmed it’s a scam and not legit at all. I’ve also shared the number with them so they can look into it further. If you get a call like this, just hang up straight away. Don’t follow any instructions or let them near your computer, or they could nab your passwords and get into your bank accounts. So this number just rang me too. The bloke had an Indian accent and said he was from BT, I ended the call pretty quick. Felt a bit mean at first but then I checked this site and saw all the warnings. Now I’m glad I cut it off fast, no regrets! Have gone ahead and blocked the number now.

Utter scammers! I decided to quiz the woman on the other end about my internet setup, which obviously they knew nothing about, even though they pretended to be from BT security. It’s definitely a con job. Don’t follow any of their instructions, not even something as simple as counting the lights on your homehub. Got a ring from this number, bloke with an Indian accent saying there was a problem with my broadband. He wanted me to open the "run" box on my computer and type in "inf hacking files" then press enter. I told him I've got arthritis (which is true) and my arm was aching, so I'd just put on my headset and call BT myself. Obviously, I didn’t bother calling BT and I blocked the number so they couldn’t get through again.
