Had to warn my mum about some dodgy takeover attempt for the firm she’s got shares in. I even sent her a non-disclosure form asking for all her personal info, just to be safe. Luckily, we managed to block it before anything fishy happened. Now she’s getting loads of annoying calls from them every day - no idea what they wanted with her info in the first place!

They kept ringing me up about buying LMS shares at a bargain, trying for a hostile takeover. Kept asking me to sign some non disclosure thing. I just ignored the calls, getting way too frequent.

So, yesterday this person rang up asking if my husband was interested in selling some BT shares. He did own some ages back, but not anymore. I told them to pop the details through the post and I’d have my lawyer check it out. Sounds like they’re using some really old info, just like another commenter said.

I’m usually quite cautious and this just confirmed my doubts. Someone named “Michelle” rang about my CENTRICA shares, which I actually own. She said a client was keen to purchase them but as soon as I asked her to put it in writing, she just hung up straight away. The call came from New York.

this number kept ringing me and the person claimed they were calling from Dalmont Bailey Associates LLP in New York. they said I owned shares they could sell at a great rate because of some hostile takeover situation. I looked up the FCA and found out these guys aren’t regulated at all. the FCA said their approach was exactly the sort of scammy behaviour they warn about. seriously, if you get a call from them, report it to the FCA’s fraud team straight away.

Someone called claiming to be from New York, trying to talk to my husband about some shares with Edge Banking. Thing is, he doesn't own any shares like that. Definitely a scam.

Got a ring from a woman named Jennifer from the States saying she was talking for a client interested in buying my Ferrovia shares. Thing is, I don’t own those shares anymore since they had to be sold when Ferrovia took over BAA. I told her that calls like this sound dodgy and asked if she could mail me the info instead.

Just got a call from someone saying they were ISG New York, claiming they were working for a client trying to launch a hostile takeover of Scottish Power! Bit suspicious if you ask me.

Got a call from abroad claiming they needed to talk about my Barclays Bank shares. I don’t actually own any shares in Barclays, or any firm for that matter. Definitely a scam. I’ve blocked and reported the number.
