Got a call from an Asian woman who already knew my name, where I live, and even info about some old employer shares I supposedly owned from like 15 years back. She claimed I hadn’t cashed all of them in yet, which took me by surprise coz I was sure I’d sorted that ages ago. Told her I’d double check with the company myself and then ended the call.

I got a call from a lady with an Asian accent who mentioned Lloyds and even used my name, but I struggled to catch what she was saying. I figured it was a scam, told her to hang up, and she just ended the call. I don’t have any accounts or shares with Lloyds, but it made me a bit uneasy. Tried ringing my bank afterwards, but their phone lines were closed since it was after 8pm. Really hope I don’t get another call from them. Is there a way to block this number now that they’ve got my details?

These days, I just let the answerphone pick up and only answer if I know who it is. I looked up this number later and seems it’s one of those scam calls. They rang me at 8:10 pm tonight but didn’t bother leaving any message.

I just wanted to leave a message on my voicemail but this scammer didn’t even bother to listen, so bloody rude. What a waste of money, honestly such morons.

I had a feeling it was one of those dodgy scam calls, so I just ignored it.

A lady with an American or maybe Caribbean tone called me up, talking about BT shares I own. She claimed some firm wanted to buy out minor shareholders to take over BT. Honestly, she was hard to follow, and I got a weird feeling it might be dodgy. I told her I don’t sort out these things over the phone and asked her to post something to the address she seemed to have. I’m not expecting anything and pretty certain it’s a scam trying to pull a fast one.

On the 13th of September, at about 2.07pm, I got a call from a lady speaking with an American accent. She knew my real name and said she was calling from Lloyds Bank, trying to sell me a “fantastic offer.” I’d say this is pretty risky since it had to do with handling money.

They somehow had some details about my shares, which made me just hang up. Wondering how on earth they managed to find out that info?

I had call screening on, so when a guy who said his name was David rang, I let it go to voicemail. Weirdly, he didn’t leave any message at all.

Got a call telling me about some shares I supposedly own. The caller asked for my email and promised a price between £8 and £15 per share, claiming it was a hostile takeover. They said it was confidential but it felt like a scam to me.

I got a call from 0017089966831, this guy had a thick accent, seemed African or something. He was trying to talk to my wife about some old share stuff we supposedly had. When I kept asking him where he was calling from and why exactly, he just ended the call. Definitely felt like a scam to me.

Got a call from a woman speaking with an Asian accent, who somehow knew my name and details about my shares. She kept asking for my email saying she wanted to send me some papers. Even though I use a BT nuisance call blocker, she managed to get through and I picked up. No doubt, this was a blatant SCAM.

Today I got a call from an Asian woman saying she wanted to buy my Santander shares as someone had shown interest. She mentioned the shares could be worth anywhere from £8 to £17 each and told me to keep it a secret. I checked the actual price, and it's way lower than that. It all sounded pretty fishy to me, so I decided not to get involved with them.

This happened just like the one reported on 22/8/22. It was a woman with an Asian accent who somehow knew my name and that I owned shares in a specific company. She started talking about a buyer offering a crazy high price for the shares. She claimed to have my postal address but asked for my email so she could send some paperwork. I wasn’t comfortable sharing it and just cut the call off.

Someone rang me up and seemed to know my name and some details about shares I own. It immediately seemed dodgy, so I just said I wasn’t willing to talk as I suspected it could be a scam. After seeing what others have said about that number, I’m glad I wasn’t daft and avoided saying more.

Got a call from someone trying to reach the old owner of this number, but he moved out like 20 years ago and obviously kept his number. Pretty clear it was a mix-up.

They were asking loads about financial stuff and kept pushing for an email address. Every time I tried to ask something, they dodged it and only wanted to know how to spell the company name. Seemed like they already had people’s home addresses too. Definitely watch out for this!

I got a call from a woman speaking with an Asian accent who somehow knew my name, where I live and even my shareholding details. There was a lot of background chatter, so I guessed she was calling from some kind of call centre. She tried to convince me to sell my shares at a price higher than what’s currently on the market. I told her I wasn’t interested and hung up straight away. But she kept ringing me back, so in the end I just blocked the number she was using.

This woman, sounding Asian, knew my name, where I live, and even details about my shares. From the chatter in the background, I reckon she was in a call centre. She kept pushing the idea that I could sell my shares for more than the market rate. I told her I wasn’t interested and ended the call straight away. But she was relentless and rang me back multiple times, so in the end I had to block the number she was calling from.

Got a call from an Asian woman asking for the shareholder, saying my mum held IAG shares. Mum doesn't actually know anything about shares, so I just took the number and told her I’d ring her later. Had a quick look on this site and yep, looks like a scam to me. Glad I didn’t fall for it!

Got a call from a woman who spoke with what I thought was an Asian accent, saying some big bank is being taken over and someone wants to buy shares. Definitely felt like a scam to me. Watch out for these dodgy calls!

Absolutely a con job. They started asking me about stocks my mate owned - problem is, he's been gone for more than two decades now. I've seen this sort of scam pop up before, where they claim they're working for someone wanting to buy a big share in a public company. They promise to pay more than market value, but somehow need either a guarantee or some money up front to move things along. Total rubbish, watch out.

Got a voicemail from an Asian woman about British Airways shares, said she’d ring back soon. She asked for me and my husband - who passed away over seven years ago. We've long since sold all of our BA shares, so this smells like a scam to me. I reckon she’s using an outdated list of shareholders or something. Marking this as suspicious because anyone who actually still owns those shares could easily get tricked.

I got a call from someone saying they were with Claridge Consultancy group, telling me there was going to be a hostile takeover of Scottish Power and its parent company Iberdrola. They asked if I held shares and wanted to sell them. Turns out, the FCA has issued warnings about this outfit, saying they aren’t allowed to operate in the UK. Also, the phone number they used comes from Illinois, which is odd since Claridge Consultancy Group is actually in Rochester, NY. Looks like this is part of a clever scam where the target is tricked into sending some kind of insurance bond.

Got a call from a lady with an accent, asking about some shares I apparently owned years ago. She said the company that took over wanted to buy any shares I hadn’t sold yet. She offered to send me a form by email, some kind of non disclosure thingy, to fill out and send back. Weirdly, she even knew my date of birth. Honestly, I reckon it’s a total scam.

Got a call from a woman with a strong accent today, just like yesterday. She kept pushing to talk to someone by name, speaking like she was in charge and quite bossy about it. Mentioned Scottish Power several times. Definitely one of those nasty scammers for sure.

I got a call from a woman with an Asian accent about some papers supposedly from Scottish Power. When I asked for details, she couldn’t clearly explain what it was about. I told her I’m not interested in cold calls and if it’s legit, to send the info by post instead. She then threatened to call the police and ended the call abruptly after telling me to f... off, sounding really annoyed.

The caller was actually asking about someone who’s passed away and doesn’t live at this address. She seemed to have got the wrong details about the place. Also, the whole thing about tarmac wasn’t something they cared about at all.
