My husband went through something really similar. The caller had an Indian accent and said he worked for BT. He was trying to get him to turn on his computer, but he called him out as a fraud and just ended the call.

Got a call from someone with an accent from the Asian sub continent, said they were from BT. When I asked for their BT staff ID, they just hung up. This was the third time they called, and each time they try to get you to give them access to your computer, saying there’s something wrong with your router. Total scam, don’t trust it.

Got a call today from a guy with an Asian accent claiming to be from BT. He told me my router wouldn’t work with my computer. When I asked for his phone number so my adviser could ring him back, he gave me a number that didn’t even exist. Then I asked where he was calling from and he said London. I asked him for an address so I could drop by, and he suddenly got all awkward. What a pain!

Got a call from someone with an Indian accent saying there was a problem with my BT router. Their English was really bad. They asked if I was on a PC or a laptop and wanted me to turn it on. I told them no way. They sounded annoyed, so I called them out for being a scammer. In the past few weeks, I’ve had about four calls like this, and interestingly, I have had some internet speed troubles and already been in touch with BT’s overseas support. It’s a bit suspicious. I’ve also reported it to BT, suggesting they might need to check their security.

Got a call earlier today from someone pretending to be BT, claiming there was an issue with my router and offering to sort it out. When I said I knew exactly what kind of scam it was, he wouldn’t spill the beans at first. In the end, he gave up and hung up after I told him off proper.

Someone rang my 90 year old dad and left him totally baffled. He ended up chatting with them for an hour and even ended up installing some programme. I really want to figure out who they were.

I got a call from a bloke saying he was Jackson from BT, my internet company, but we dont even have BT here. Pretty fishy if you ask me.
