I got a call today from 0016617480240, I’m in the UAE and they claimed I’d won 200,000 AED, which is roughly 65,000 USD. The guy said the police and government were listening in and that I’d be featured on national TV. When I mentioned I needed to talk to my husband first, he kept cutting me off and then suddenly asked for my card details to ‘transfer’ the prize money. The call felt rushed and he got quite pushy. He sounded like a native Arabic speaker, but the number was foreign, coming from Stockholm, Sweden.

Got a call on my husband's phone from a bloke claiming to be from SBI bank. He said he needed to check our names and addresses so he could send out some cards. My husband figured I must’ve put in a request for them, so he went ahead and shared the address. Thing is, I never asked for any cards! Weird situation. Anyway, he’s blocked the number now.

Got a couple of calls from a bloke supposedly called "Mark Allen," who sounded Indian. First time, it was from 02081332276, and today from 0016617480240. He claimed to be ringing from our energy supplier, saying they were shutting down because of Covid, and that we’d be moved over to Scottish Power. Complete con, obviously reported it straight away.

Initially, I received a call from a withheld number. Then this person rang back on a different number, mentioning my address and the serial number of my electricity meter, talking about some technical problem. There was loads of background noise, sounded like a busy market in India or somewhere. Even though the number is barred, the calls keep coming from a withheld one.

Got a call at work, someone asked for me by name which I found a bit odd. He said his name was Bob but didn’t sound like he was from around here. Claimed to be from Robinsons Consultancy but then just dropped the call. Could hear a lot of background noise, made it sound like he was calling from one of those call centre places. Pretty suspicious if you ask me.

Got around 40 calls claiming to be from British Gas, asking for my meter reading and account number on my bill. I told them nicely that I'm renting and my rent covers everything, so I don't have a meter or a bill number to give. They said they got it, but kept calling from anonymous numbers anyway. After blocking those hidden numbers, they started phoning again from 016617480240. I'm totally lost on how to stop them now. Definitely a dodgy scam, and honestly, they won't get anything from me since I don't have what they're after!

Honestly, they kept ringing super early, like around 7 in the morning when I was still trying to sleep. Other times too, just rang and rang but no one ever spoke. Once I finally answered, and there was just dead silence, no sound or anything - really weird.

Got a call from an Indian woman with a really hard-to-understand accent and the connection was terrible. She was asking about our electricity details, I believe. In the background, I could hear other people chatting on different calls, probably more scammers. Feels like this could be a pretty risky scam to watch out for.

Someone rang pretending to be from EDF, saying there was an issue with our meter based on the last reading and that they’d send an engineer round on Monday. When I asked for the supply number (you know, the meter’s serial number), he couldn’t provide it. I then asked him for the recent reading we’d given, but he just couldn’t supply any proper info. I told him I wasn’t going to carry on without that info, and he promptly ended the call. Feels like a scam to grab our meter number so they could switch us to another provider and get some sort of reward.
