Someone called saying they were from kaiser corporate partners, offering to buy shares at way above market price. They even brought up some sort of third party insurance to make the deal sound legit. Honestly, it seemed quite convincing at first, but it’s definitely a scam in the end.

BEWARE OF FRAUD: They want money upfront! I recently had a chat with someone pretending to be from their Acquisition team, a "Mr Daniel Yan". They sent over what they called a Non-Disclosure Agreement, stating I couldn’t share any info about Prudential PLC's acquisition. Then they said their Legal team would verify how many shares I supposedly own or if the company’s name changed - all sounds fishy. The letter came from a place called Kaiser Corporate Partners in Yonkers, NY, with phone and fax numbers listed. Don’t get caught out by these kinds of tactics!

There was this call about buying IAG shares with a bid going as high as £18, while right now they’re worth less than £2. Sounds like some kind of sneaky takeover attempt to me. I doubt it’s legit - my guess is they’re just fishing for your personal details or maybe trying to get some cash before anything real happens. Wouldn’t trust it, honestly.

I got a call from a lady who said she was with Prudential in New York, talking about some shares and a merger. Thing is, I can't remember ever owning Prudential shares, so I asked her to send me an email to confirm. Seems a bit dodgy to me?

On the 17th of March 2021, I got a call from a lady with a strong foreign accent. She said something about my shares in a plc company, but I couldn’t quite catch which one. I told her I wasn’t familiar with that and ended the call. Then, on the 18th, she phoned again. This time my wife answered, told her I wasn’t free and then hung up.

This number rang me up claiming to be from some mergers and acquisitions team talking about a hostile takeover linked to Centrica shares. Luckily, I have a setting on my home phone that lets me record calls. Once I mentioned I was going to record what we were discussing, she suddenly cut off the call! Pretty obvious move if you ask me.

Got a call from someone claiming they were keen on buying Tesco shares, said they were in New York. They offered £17 a share and even emailed me with what looked like a proper header from some place called Fletcher Corporate Partners. Seemed pretty convincing at first.

Got a call from a guy who spoke really quickly, claimed he was calling from New York. He said he was involved in a hostile takeover attempt of Rolls Royce and wanted to purchase my shares. I haven't seen anything about that in the news, so I'm pretty sure it was a scam.

Total scam! Someone rang me claiming they’d pay £7 to £10 a share to buy my Morrisons stocks. Said it was a quick takeover and time was running out. What a joke!

Got a call from someone saying they were with EDF Energy. They told me I had shares in the company and that EDF was worried about a possible takeover, so they wanted to buy my shares off me. Thing is, I don’t own any shares - just use EDF for my electricity and gas. I ended the call pretty quick, but it’s got me thinking they must’ve got my info from somewhere, probably because I use EDF as my supplier. Feels like one of those scams to me.
