0016468097022 Summary (Read all comments)

Phone number ☎️ 0016468097022 👆 is reported as associated with persistent scam calls targeting individuals about non-existent or long-sold shares, often referencing well-known companies like BP, Vodafone, GSK, SSE, and Centrica. Callers frequently use convincing personal details and originate from overseas, typically with American or occasionally Asian accents, using spoofed or fake UK numbers. They pressure recipients to act urgently or provide personal information, sometimes suggesting hostile company takeovers or special offers on shares. Many victims recognise the calls as fraudulent, refuse engagement, and advise reporting to Action Fraud or the police. Blocking numbers proves ineffective due to call rotation. The widespread scam has prompted calls for regulatory action and technological measures to prevent foreign-based spoofed calls. Caution and verification through official channels are strongly recommended.

Got a call on my UK landline and they asked for me by name. Then they wanted to know if I still owned Vodafone shares. As soon as I told them I’d sold them, they just hung up. Feels like some kind of scam pretending to be a potential buyer?

Somebody called me, addressing me as the Executor for my mum who died over 20 years ago, saying she still had BP shares they were keen to buy. I asked them to send it through by email to confirm, but I was pretty sure I'd never get anything.

On 06/04, a couple of posts showed how to report scam calls and bogus numbers. I think this American number is likely coming from some automated system based in India or Russia.

I got a phone call from some bloke claiming he was with BT, talking about a share deal that I had to accept immediately. He kept saying the offer was only on for a limited time, like I had to act right away or miss out.

Got a call from a woman named Stephanie Morris claiming to be from New York. She said she wanted to discuss shares left by my late dad because the company was supposedly being bought out. I told her I'd get in touch with the company myself. Despite that, they've rung me about 20 times in the last couple of days. I blocked one number but then they just called from a different one. Proper annoying.

Got a call from a lady with an American accent wanting to talk to my mother-in-law, who’s been dead for a while now. When I told her that, she just went quiet and then asked for my name without really explaining why she was calling. Felt like it was dodgy, so I ended the call. Later on, I looked up the number and it showed it was coming from Manhattan, New York.

I rang an old number and got chatting to someone who still lives there, a mate of mine. Was asking about some shares I used to have but don’t anymore. They had a US accent, so I’m pretty sure it was some kind of scam.

Got a call from a bloke speaking with an American accent, asking about purchasing my partner's Rolls Royce shares on behalf of someone else. He insisted on speaking to my husband but ended up chatting with me instead - seemed suspicious right from the start. I told him we don’t entertain cold calls, then he hung up pretty quickly. Definitely felt like a scam to me!

Somebody rang me saying they were contacting me for a company interested in purchasing my Centrica shares. Thing is, I sold mine ages ago and haven’t held any for years. They mentioned they’d send an email about it. From what I've read about this phone number, it seems like a total scam.

So this woman called Jane, sounded like she had a thick accent, rang me up about buying my shares. It definitely felt fishy, but I’m curious how they managed to get my details in the first place. When I told her to just send a letter like the share firm usually does, she hung up on me straight away.

Got a call from a young woman speaking with an Asian accent, claiming she was calling from New York. She said she worked for a firm planning a hostile takeover of Aviva and was offering a price way above the current market value. We had a pretty lengthy conversation, ending with her asking for my email to send over some documents. I told her since she already had all my info, she might as well send anything by post because I wasn’t about to give my email. She stayed polite throughout the call. Bet I’ll get a follow-up ring tomorrow.

A few months back, they said I'd already agreed to chip in for a project sending out books on stopping knife crime to a nearby school. After some talking, they then hit me with a bill for £199. I'm retired and do forget things now and then, but there's no way we said yes to something that pricey - we just can't afford that sort of money!
