Got a call from someone claiming to be doing economic research for the Wall Street Journal. They kept asking about what investments I’ve put my money in, how much they’re worth, my role in the company, if I’m the only one making decisions, whether I plan to invest more and how much, plus my age and even my favourite colour. Felt a bit off, to be honest.

Got a call that seemed like some phishing scam, they began with asking about economic research stuff. But as soon as they started probing about my age and even favourite colour, I just ended the call!

This morning I received a couple of calls from this number but didn’t pick up. They’d actually tried ringing me about 2 weeks ago too. I’m based in Ireland.

Today I got a call from this number claiming to be from the Wall Street Journal doing some kind of economic survey. I cut the call straight away. But I reckon it's connected to my Virgin Media account since the person’s voice and the noise in the background reminded me of a call centre in Manila, Philippines. I’d just paid my bill too. Something similar happened last month right after I sorted my payment.

I usually just ignore calls from overseas and wait for them to leave a voicemail. If it’s something genuine, they’ll drop a message or maybe send a text or reach out some other way. This call definitely felt sketchy though.

Got a call from this number earlier today. I didn't pick up, just let it ring a couple of times. Then I looked it up on here and figured it’s likely the same kind of thing mentioned in the WSJ post, so I’m just gonna ignore it.

Got a call from a New York number but I just ignored it since I’m based in Malaysia. Don’t see why they’d be calling me anyway, it’s not a contact I have saved.

Every day in the afternoon, this number keeps ringing me. I usually just ignore it since I don’t recognise it. I’m really not a fan of people calling out of the blue.

This number popped up on my caller ID but I had no clue who it was, so I just let it ring off. They didn’t bother to leave any voicemail either.

Got a call from someone claiming to be with the Wall Street Journal, saying they were doing some kind of economic survey. They checked if my email was right and asked if I make decisions about investments or would be willing to act on any opportunities. I asked where they got my number, and they just said "various sources." I mentioned I didn’t think WSJ ever did research like that. Then I told them I’d previously asked to be removed from their list and asked if they have any system to honour that. As soon as I said this, the caller quickly ended the call with a “have a nice day.”

I got calls from a number that showed it was from New York, USA. I answered one time and it was some "economic research" group. They kept asking for a different guy’s name, not mine. Then after about two weeks, they started blowing up my phone - like 3 times in one day, then 4 times the next. Quite annoying!

I have no idea who this caller was. I just didn’t answer the phone at all.

Got a call from someone claiming they were doing "economic research", sounded like he was calling from abroad with his Indian accent. Our number's unlisted and we're on the TPS, so I was suspicious straight away. He opened with the usual chit-chat about my wellbeing, but I cut him off quick, making it clear he had to say why he was calling or I’d hang up. Then he mentioned my last name and tried to verify it along with my phone number. As always, I just said "Hello" - never giving away any details - and told him I was about to hang up. I don’t entertain any cold calls, no matter what.
