I picked up a call earlier today and it seemed like some robotic voice, then after a bit it just said “bye” and ended.

Got a call at 12.43 this afternoon from an overseas number. I don’t answer those anymore cause of all the phishing nonsense going round. I blocked the number straight away and then looked it up here - just as I thought, it’s a dodgy scam. Honestly, buying a phone with call-blocking was one of the best decisions I ever made.

Looks like he’s dropped the whole TPS scam and now he’s doing some kind of 'customer survey' instead! I mentioned that his opening question seemed really biased (like against age), he just said 'yeah', I replied 'good to see you acknowledge that' and then he just ended the call.

Received a call about renewing our phone blocking service, if you can believe it. When I inquired about the location, he claimed he was calling from Nottingham, yet the area code was distinctly American. I told him to go get some sun and promptly disconnected.

A bloke claiming to be from Telephone Preference Services (TPS) rang us at 14:41 on Thursday 17 May 2018. He told me TPS would be turned back on tomorrow since it hadn’t been working properly - basically, we’d been getting loads of nuisance calls from overseas! I asked why he needed to ring me personally. He tried to explain and kept calling me ‘Mam’. When I asked where he was calling from, he said central London and rattled off an address. He spoke so quickly it was hard to catch, and eventually he gave up as I pretended not to get what he was about.

This morning, I received a call from a lady named "Nancy," who claimed to represent TPS. She stated that starting tomorrow, all marketing calls would be blocked. It sounded quite far-fetched to me, but I politely thanked her. To my astonishment, she promptly ended the call without even attempting to gather any details from me. Could it be that she was merely checking if my number was still active?

In the last few days Ive got 2 calls, one claiming to be from TSP and another about my landline. The landline one was today, said there was an issue and if I didnt follow their instructions my phone line would get cut off. With the TSP call, they asked me to sign up again but when I said it was already a lifetime registration, they just hung up on me.

It appears they’ve got our name and postcode down to a tee. Quite persuasive, I must say, but the queries they pose don’t quite align with the Telephone Preference Service (TPS) guidelines. They insist on a reference number from TPS, which, let’s face it, if you’re not prepared with that number, they cheekily direct you to your bank statement for it. Alarm bells should surely be clanging away-since TPS is completely free, there’s absolutely no need for direct debits or reference numbers. It’s simply disgraceful! Why can’t these individuals simply find themselves decent employment instead of resorting to thievery? Utterly contemptible!

Just got a call from this number and a lady claimed she would put a stop to all scam calls. When I asked if that included me, she replied that she knew where I lived and was planning to come round and kill me!! Surely its about time someone cracked down on these disgusting people. If I was someone more vulnerable, it would’ve been really frightening.

Got a call from 00161 350046 around 8:55 in the morning, some bloke said he was from the TPS and that starting tomorrow all automated calls to my number would be stopped. He then started rattling off my name, address, and phone number, after that, he handed me over to some so-called line manager who asked for my direct debit number to “verify my TPS status”. When I told them my internet was down coz my broadband was busted, the guy just hung up on me!

I just received a dodgy phone call claiming to be from the Telephone Preference Service, trying to fish for my personal details and information about my bill payments. Honestly, it's infuriating! Pretty much they were after my bank info, supposedly from the phone preference service. The lady told me I had to share the details so if I ever wanted a different company to get in touch, I could switch my number on since I pay my phone bill by direct debit. Bit risky, we all know you shouldn't give out bank details, but she sounded very convincing. This call came after a load of scam calls all week. This number keeps ringing incessantly. Definitely a con. Don't entertain them at all. If you're feeling as fed up as I am, feel free to unleash some choice words at them, or perhaps lead them on a merry dance, or straight up accuse them of being out-and-out robbers - do whatever floats your boat at that moment. On the other hand, if you've got a more civil approach, just hang up. They'll continue to pester you, over and over again, non-stop. It's quite maddening, to say the least...

I received a call from a chap who had a rather exotic accent, introducing himself as Kevin and insisting he was representing the TPS. I sensed something was off and promptly hung up on him, believing he wasn't being honest.

Got a call from a bloke speaking with an Asian accent, saying "Hello, is this Mr. ######?" I just said "Yeah" without a second thought and he cut me off straight away. Proper daft on my part, don’t fall for it - just ask "What for?" and then hang up on them!

I got a call from a guy who sounded Asian, he asked for me by name. I told him I don't live there anymore and just hung up.

Got a call from some Indian bloke saying he was from TPS. Told him straight up he was a scammer, he denied it though. Didn’t give him any info and rang TPS myself - they said it was definitely a scam.

Got a call from an international number, thought it might be family so I answered. No reply at first, so I said hello? Then a woman answered like I’d called her instead. I told her she was the one who called me. She mentioned something about Marshals, must’ve been a mix-up. I hung up and blocked the number straight away. Looks like it’s time to renew our TPS registration. Luckily, with BT Call Guardian on our line, these calls don't come through much nowadays.

Got a call from a young woman with an Indian accent saying she was from the telephone preference service. She already knew my name and postcode. I didn’t say much and just told her to go ahead, then she cut off. Honestly, I kinda enjoy messing about with these callers when I’m bored. I’ve blocked the number but I’m hoping they ring again so I can have a bit of fun playing cat and mouse. When will our useless government actually do something about this rubbish? Also, the call woke my hubby up, so now I’m proper annoyed.

Didn’t pick up, number looked like it was from abroad and seemed dodgy. Just blocked it straight away.

This number keeps ringing me about 3 times each day. I don’t pick up and there’s never any voicemail left. Honestly, I’m fed up with it.

Got a call from an Asian lady who somehow knew my last name. She told me that starting tomorrow, I wouldn't get any more marketing calls. I told her that it already was the case - or at least I hoped so - since I’m on the telephone preference service. Then, she just hung up on me.

Got a call from an Asian lady saying my phone wouldn’t work for calls anymore after today. When I just said "Good," she cut off straight away.

Fortuitously, I happened to be away at the time!

Some dude with an attitude, sounded Asian, rang this number at 09:25. Got a bit narky so I just ended the call - he claimed he was from TPS but that was clearly a load of rubbish.

I've been getting calls from this number both yesterday and today. They’re purporting to be from the Telephone Preference Service, but I'm certain it's a call centre. There must be a way to trace them, right?

This call was clearly a dodgy scam trying to get the bank info of whoever answers. When will someone actually step in and stop these scammers who try to rob the most vulnerable people?

So, a bloke ringed me from this number earlier. I snapped, asking 'what’s the deal?' and he just dropped the call. I’ve gone ahead and blocked it now.

I was under the impression that the Telephone Preference Service was meant to put an end to these vexatious nuisance calls. What's absurd is that this particular caller claims to be part of the TPS itself!

Just got a call from that same nice sounding bloke again. They really ought to put an end to this.

Recognised the number and ignored it, had a feeling it was dodgy. When it went to voicemail, I just ended the call straight away.

I've just had a call from this number as well, with the caller asserting they were from the telephone preference service. When I requested a contact number to ring her back, she abruptly ended the call. Quite suspicious, if you ask me!

I rang up BT’s 1471 today and they verified the time of the call (12:46pm) and the number that rang me, but that was about it. My answering machine captured a voice stating, "Are you there?" in a distinct male British tone before abruptly disconnecting. It's blatantly a scam; they didn't bother to introduce themselves or provide any context for the call.

Just like the others said, they called and knew my name, saying they were with the National Telephone Preference Service - even though the call came from Ottawa and I’m actually in the UK. I just hung up straight away.

I received a call from this number earlier today. They mentioned my name and postcode, which immediately raised my suspicions. The person on the other end had a foreign accent and came across as rather dodgy. It felt like a scam, to be honest, and then they just cut the line.

Absolute charlatans, and they turned quite nasty when I called them out on it.

Got a call from a guy with an Indian accent telling me we had to update our TPS info. When I asked more questions, he said he'd pass me on to a senior supervisor. Then the call just dropped. Honestly, it felt pretty dodgy.

Got a call from a bloke who sounded Indian, claiming he was from the Telephone Preference Service. He said starting tomorrow, all junk calls to my landline would get blocked. Then he mentioned some Senior Verification Officer wanted to have a word with me. I noticed on my phone it was a 00 prefix number, so I asked why telco stuff was coming from abroad. They couldn’t explain it, so I told them it was a scam and ended the call.

What a right con! This woman had the audacity to ring me up, claiming she was from the TPS. She was after my husband’s details - the poor chap has been gone for nearly ten years! So, I decided to humour her for a bit. She rambled on about needing to activate some 'hard rock' service and insisted on confirming my husband's details. Once she'd convinced herself I was actually him, she said she’d have to pass me over to her supervisor. That was the final straw; I just ended the call.

Got a call from someone claiming to be from the TPS, saying they were setting up some “hard rock” service and needed to verify my info. Then she said she had to put me through to her senior manager, and I could actually hear the phone being passed to a man. At that point, I couldn’t be bothered with it any longer and just ended the call.

Got a call at 8:45 on 23/03/18 from 001613500463, answered by Mrs L++++. A young bloke said, "Is this Mrs L++++?" She asked who it was, and he said, "Hi, I’m Max," then just hung up.

A woman with a South Asian accent said she was from the Telephone Preference Service. She shared some details about my number (all stuff I could find in a phone book) to prove she was legit, then claimed she was putting me through to her supervisor who would confirm they'd block all nuisance calls from overseas. A man, also speaking with a South Asian accent, repeated the same info but then asked me how I pay my phone bill. When I asked why he needed that info, he just hung up straight away. Total phishing scam. Wouldn't trust it.

Some bloke said he was from BT and that my router was hacked. He had an Asian accent and sounded like he was in a noisy call centre. I asked for my account number and he immediately gave me one which I knew wasn’t right. Seemed like one of those Microsoft scams, so I just ended the call.
