I got a call from M & G Capital Partners claiming they wanted to purchase my Fidelity Japan Value Trust shares for, get this, between 60 and 140 times what they’re worth right now. Waiting on that NDA so I can forward it straight to Action on Fraud.

I got a call from a woman named Sara who said she was from Bensom Mines consulting. She pretended she wanted to buy some old shares I had from a company that had gone bust. It felt off when she offered me a payout that would erase all my losses straight away, but only if I paid for an "insurance bond" - which was like 9% of the deal, about £4500. When someone rings out of nowhere with a deal that sounds just too perfect, it usually isn’t legit. Definitely gave me a bad vibe.

Somebody rang me claiming they were from M&G Capital Partners in New York. They said my shares were about to skyrocket because of a takeover that was supposed to be happening. Sounds dodgy though, as I’m pretty sure they’re not actually located in New York. Feels like one of those typical boiler room scams, so I wouldn’t trust them one bit.

I got a call from a woman with a clear Asian accent, saying she was from 'M&G Partners Capita New York'. She claimed there was an upcoming STS takeover and offered to purchase my shares at a ridiculously good price! When I asked for their office address, she just hung up straight away. Honestly, never share your info or engage with cold callers, no matter how tempting the deal sounds. It’s probably a classic Boiler Room scam. I’m pretty sure they’re not actually based in New York. They must have got my details from old shareholder lists or something like that.

On 19th February 2020, around 3:57pm GMT, I got a call from a US number, 001 518 507 0133. The person claimed to know me and asked if I was still holding shares in McBride PLC. They said their firm owned 41% of the company and wanted to buy more to take control. They mentioned they'd send me details by post but then asked for my email. I told them I only handle things by mail. Right after that, they just hung up. Total scam, no doubt. I'll keep you posted if anything else comes up.

I got a call out of the blue from someone named Nic Evans, claiming to work in the Mergers and Acquisitions team at Benson Mines Consulting. They said they wanted to buy up shares for a client that's supposedly gearing up for a sneaky takeover. The price they offered was nearly twice what the shares are actually worth, which felt very off. There's a website and a New York address listed, but when I checked Google Maps, the location didn’t match the site's info and there’s no sign of any staff on LinkedIn. Just like other people have said here, this looks like a total scam to me.

I got two calls from this number tonight. When I first picked up no one spoke so I just ended the call. Then they tried again right away but ended up disconnecting. Honestly, calling at 8pm? That’s a bit too late to be pestering folks with cold calls. Pretty annoying if you ask me.

Totally dodgy lot. Got a call from a woman about my shares in some firm - problem is, I got rid of all of them ages back! Seems like companies keep your name on their records long after you've sold up. If someone rings you out of the blue like that, don’t trust a word. Any websites they send you to will be dodgy, and those fancy brochures they post? Just smoke and mirrors. Best to only deal with well-known firms and legit stockbrokers. Personally, I’d suggest going with the Share Centre.

I got a call from this woman who said her name was Angelica and that she worked for SS Benson. She started going on about some African mining shares or something I’d apparently sold a long time back. Seemed like a total scam to me! She was really stubborn too - my missus even hung up on her a couple of times this morning once she caught the word “shares” and asked to speak to me.

Got a call from someone called Anna, who I think had an Asian accent, claiming to be from 'Benson Consultancy in New York'. She wanted to chat to someone in my family about shares with Aberdeen Investments. When I asked her where exactly in New York they were based so I could verify, she just cut the call. Bit fishy if you ask me.

Got a call from a foreign number asking for my hubby about some Cadbury shares. Told them we have nothing to do with that firm and hung up. They rang back straight away but no one spoke when I answered. We actually owned shares way back, so this has “scam” written all over it. Best to stay clear of these calls.

Got a call from some scammers claiming they wanted to buy my shares for way more than the current price. I just told them to stick to the stock market like everyone else instead of trying to fool me. It's clearly a dodgy trick to steal info and cash. Proper nasty people.

I got a call from Bella Cruise and Scott Wilson pushing me to sell Breedon shares at a price that seemed way too high. It reminded me of a post from 25/09/2019 I saw here about the exact same scam. I checked out this website and it really backed up my suspicions. Cheers for the help!

I got a call from 0015185070133 about some shares I supposedly bought in a firm called Maisha years back. They claimed they represented a client trying to take over the company. It sounded legit at first, but I had a quick look online and discovered the company had been dissolved ages ago. They asked me to sign a Non Disclosure Agreement and warned me not to mention anything to anyone as it would mess up the takeover. From what I found on the internet, these types usually ask for a big sum of cash upfront. Definitely seems like a scam.

Just got a call from these lot to my missus, trying to flog her some shares she's held onto forever at a price that’s completely mad. They’re also asking her to put down a hefty sum upfront to “secure” the deal or something like that. Total scam, no doubt about it!

Cheers for the heads up, everyone. Got a call today from someone claiming to be Scott Wilson, said he was from Tucker and Ross talking about Elementis Shares. Seemed a bit dodgy to me, especially as I’m pretty sure I haven’t got any shares like that. They said they’d buy them at 7 to 50 times what they’re actually worth! Before I handed over my email for the NDA, I asked them to send me their contact info and email so I could verify who they were and get back if I was interested.

Just got a call from someone named Maria, saying she was from Tucker and Ross. It felt like the usual tale - she wanted me to agree to some NDA, then pitched these shares at crazy high prices that def seemed useless. Then she asked me to put about four grand into some escrow with a company called Greenpoint International Transfers. I wasn’t buying it, so I didn’t send anything.

I got a couple of calls about some shares they said I had, offering between £15 and £27 each. Thing is, the company went bust years ago. They also sent me an email with a file attached, but I didn't dare open it. Just the two calls after that though.

I got a call from Tucker & Ross Advisors LLC about some Alphameric shares I supposedly had, but I don’t own any now. They talked about amounts between £7-14 and said it was an American firm. They even sent some kind of confidentiality paper that mentioned insurance, which made me suspicious right away. I’m pretty sure it’s a scam. Watch out for this lot!

Somebody called me saying they needed me to sign a form about my pension company being taken over, promising £7 per share. I told them I’d sold all my shares ages ago, but they kept saying I was still due some money. They asked for my email, but I said I’d prefer to get the form through the post. When they asked if I had a computer, I said no and quickly ended the call.

On the evening of 5th September, around 8pm, I got a call from someone trying to buy my shares in a VCT. I wasn't interested and didn’t give them any encouragement, and they just ended the call.

On the 5th of September 2019, I got two calls from some lot who were trying to purchase shares they reckoned I had in Fortune Oil. Problem is, I sold those shares more than a decade ago! The first time they rang, about a fortnight back, they were offering me something like 7 to 14 quid for them. They asked for my email, but I wasn’t having it. Then tonight, out of the blue, they called again about the same shares. I told them to bugger off and not spoil my evening, then I just hung up. Honestly, dealing with this stuff takes up time, is a bit of a pain, and messes with your head!

I got a call supposedly from Highsmith Capital Partners, saying they wanted to buy shares for one of their clients. They tried to convince me to pay some sort of insurance bond, claiming it’s needed in case the deal falls through. The voice sounded American but had an accent from the East somewhere. No number was displayed when they called. Seemed dodgy to me.

Got a call from someone named Monica Silver claiming to be from Highsmith Capital Partners. She said they wanted to buy my shares and asked me to sign some confidentiality agreement. I’m a bit confused though, haven’t been asked for any bank info or anything, so not sure if this is a scam or what. The company she mentioned is definitely the one I have shares in.

Got a call from someone calling himself "James" claiming to represent 'High Smith Capital Partners'. He said they held 41% of KCOM shares and were interested in buying more. He even took an address saying he’d post some details. Thing is, they rang a close family member who doesn’t own any KCOM shares anymore - felt a bit dodgy, like a scam to me.

Got a call from someone claiming to be with ‘James and Jenkins’ stockbrokers. They kept pushing me to give my email address, but I didn’t feel right about it, so I told them to send anything through the post instead. Later, I saw a warning about this on ‘Which’ magazine and figured it was a scam. I’ve blocked the number now.
