Got a call from a woman trying to persuade me to vote in favour of a company takeover involving my shares. She couldn’t give me my shareholder reference number though, which makes me think it’s probably a scam.

I got three calls from this number but didn't leave any voicemail. They rang me on Wednesday the 20th of Jan at about 8.36 in the morning and then again at 1.36 in the afternoon. Then there was another one on Thursday the 21st at 6.18pm.

I got a call from this firm named Blue Sea outta New York, they also ring from 0019177225896. They're trying to convince me they’re taking over the company that manages my shares. They ask for your fax or email to send some documents, and then rush you to sign and send it back quick, so they can supposedly recover your funds. They’re pretty slick - keep you chatting on the phone forever. Best thing, if you don’t wanna deal with it, just don’t pick up when they call.

Got a call from this number but didn't pick up since we usually avoid international calls. Odd thing is, when I rang my house phone from my mobile, this exact number showed up on the caller ID. I'll try ringing BT next to figure it out.

Got a call about a supposed takeover offer for my shares. Felt fishy so I just ended the call right away. Total scam if you ask me.

Some woman called asking to speak to my hubby about shares or something. I told her no thanks and just hung up. We don’t own any shares anyway.

Received a call from some random international number, said nothing and just hung up. Felt like one of those Wangiti scams or something similar.

This lady’s from New York and really eager to buy or sell shares. Her husband never told her what he was investing in before he passed away. She just retired recently, so she’s not really familiar with spotting scam calls yet.

There was this lady from New York who’s desperate to buy or sell shares, but her husband won’t say what investments he left her. She’s only just retired and isn’t too familiar with scam calls, which makes it tricky for her.

I got a call from an American bloke, sounding proper polite, asking about some shares I hold in Alliance Co. He wanted to know if I'd be up for selling them. I told him there’s no way I’d chat about that sort of thing over a cold call and that any formal talk should come by letter. He got a bit annoyed, mentioned he was calling from the US (his number showed it), and then just ended the call. He spoke really well and seemed like someone who’d be legit to ask, so it was a bit confusing.

I got a call from 15142487681 saying that SSE was having a takeover and they wanted to purchase my shares. But from what I know, there’s no takeover happening! They kept calling me though, really annoying.

Got a call from a woman talking about British Steel shares. Thing is, no one’s held any shares in British Steel for something like two decades now. Plus, the call was coming from the States, which just made me more suspicious. Definitely felt off!

Someone rang me claiming to be with Merrill Lynch, saying there was some shares under my wife's name. When I asked him why he was ringing and who exactly he was, he got a bit annoyed and just ended the call. I checked the number with a 1471 and it turned out the call was from the US. Thing is, the fund he spoke about is actually run over here in the UK, so I'm rather doubtful about the whole thing.
