Got a call from a number in the States, the guy claimed he was ringing about some telephone preference scheme, offering to add me to stop nuisance calls. I told him I was already signed up, so really he was the nuisance. He asked how he was bothering me, and I just said by ringing me up. Then he started calling me stupid and ignorant! I told him he was being really rude and hung up on him straight away.

Got a call from a US area code here in the UK. The line was dead silent for about 3 seconds before a bloke came on asking for me, using my title and surname. He said he was from some nuisance call blocking team, but I didn’t catch which firm he said he was from. I was pretty sure right away it was a scam, so I just said "no thanks" and ended the call. Seems like others have had the same experience. I’d recommend blocking or just ignoring any calls from this number.

Had a call where no one spoke at first, then after around 15 seconds this robotic voice just said goodbye. Quite odd.

Upon answering the phone, there was a noticeable pause, indicating it was likely a call centre. Eventually, a gentleman with an Asian accent introduced himself as Michael, claiming to be from the Telephone Preference Service. He mentioned that if we registered our number with them, we'd be free from pesky telemarketing calls forever. It felt as though he was merely reciting from a script, and the quality of the connection was quite poor. Is it really the case that TPS resorts to cold-calling these days to promote their services?

Got another call within the hour from TPS Advanced Blocking Service, and also from 001613500463. Both numbers seem to be from the US, but calling at 10am? Seriously, someone should learn how to use these area codes properly! They’re trying to phish your card info so they can scam you down the line.

Some bloke rang claiming he was from the telephone preference service and asked for my mum. When I told him she’d died, he kept insisting she was still alive because apparently, he had all the "right details" in front of him. I told him he was completely wrong, which didn’t go down well. Suddenly, he started shouting all sorts of rude words at me. He wasn’t happy at all when I told him off and mentioned that his number popped up on my reverse lookup and that I’d be reporting him to the cops.

A bloke called claiming he was from the telephone preference service. He then began asking about my mum's debit card, especially the expiry date, saying it was 11/18 which is definitely wrong. He also brought up direct debits. When I asked where exactly he was calling from, he mentioned a place called Holywell Road with the postcode RH13 0BG. Oddly, when my mum mentioned London, he just agreed without being asked. Funny enough, I've found out this number apparently comes from the US.
